Psalm 125
A song of ascents.
1 Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion,
which cannot be shaken but endures forever.
2 As the mountains surround Jerusalem,
so the Lord surrounds his people
both now and forevermore.

3 The scepter of the wicked will not remain
over the land allotted to the righteous,
for then the righteous might use
their hands to do evil.

4 Lord, do good to those who are good,
to those who are upright in heart.
5 But those who turn to crooked ways
the Lord will banish with the evildoers.

Psalm 86:2 is a verse about a plea for divine protection, with different translations conveying the same sentiment: "Preserve my soul/life, for I am holy/godly/faithful; save your servant who trusts in youβ€”you are my God". The verse is a prayer for safety and salvation from someone who considers themselves devoted to God and places their trust in Him.

A plea for protection: The prayer asks God to guard the speaker's life or soul because the speaker is faithful to Him.

A declaration of faith: The verse highlights the speaker's dependence on God, stating, "you are my God".

A request for salvation: It is a plea for God to save the speaker, emphasizing that the speaker is a servant who trusts in Him.

Context: This verse is part of a larger prayer in Psalm 86, which is a cry for help in times of distress, reflecting the vulnerability and dependence of the human condition.
