Adopting the following lifestyle modifications can prevent thyroid diseases:
* Eating healthy diet containing adequate amounts of iodine 
* Avoiding smoking and excessive alcohol intake
* Managing stress
* Getting enough sleep
* Checking your thyroid function regularly
