Lewis, currently serving as Secretary General of the World Federation of Neurology (WFN), is a highly respected neurologist from the United States and a tireless advocate for global neurology and brain health. He has played a pivotal role in advancing international education, training, and outreach initiatives that continue to transform neurological care worldwide. His work has strengthened neurology across continents, improving education, patient care, and research globally.
As the former Editor-in-Chief of Continuum: Lifelong Learning in Neurology, the American Academy of Neurology’s flagship educational publication, Professor Steven L. Lewis elevated the journal to global prominence and inspired generations of neurologists and trainees around the world.
I have had the great privilege of working closely with Professor Steven L. Lewis as my mentor and advisor, witnessing firsthand his humility, passion, visionary leadership, and unwavering commitment to mentoring and empowering young professionals, especially those from low- and middle-income countries. I vividly remember Professor Steven L. Lewis working late into the nights to review different of my projects, sending feedback and comments at 3:00 a.m or 4:00 a.m earlier in the morning hours, followed by a kind WhatsApp message to ensure I had received his emails. His generosity and dedication to nurturing young professionals have not only inspired me personally but continue to motivate countless emerging neurologists worldwide.
