GAR NURSES AND MIDWIVES FUN DAY 2025

The day 3 event of the 2025 GRNMA-GAR nurses and midwives week happened yesterday at the regional secretariat and event centre Zoti, with members trooping in with their families to catch some fun.

With the airforce band treating patrons to some good live band music, it was a great moment to distress after a turbulent season.

Children present were taken through face painting drills, musical chairs, and some bouncy castle experience .

We wish to thank all who made the day a special one.

Let's make this happen again soon so as to promote our mental health and general wellness.

GRAND DURBAR OF THE 2025 GAR NURSES & MIDWIVES SUCCESSFULLY HELD - 6/8/2025

Today at the GRNMA event centre Korle-bu , nurses and midwives from the 21 administrative districts of the region gathered to celebrate the giant strides made in the profession over the past months.

Despite facing challenges such as poor conditions of service, low remuneration, no medical insurance etc, nurses and midwives continue to break their backs in line of duty just to alleviate pain and to save lives.

Keynote speaker of the ceremony, Dr. Mary Opare seized the moment to encourage the nurses and midwives of this generation to strive for greatness by seeking career advancement and embracing modern trends in the field of nursing.

The special guest of honour, Mp for Ablekuma south. Dr. Okow Vanderpuije assured all nurses and midwives that the current government cherishes our service and will be rolling out great initiatives to better our living conditions in the years ahead.

The current regional director of the Ghana Health service, Dr. Robert Amesiya acknowledged the critical role nurses and midwives play in the health sector and also assured the staff of his support.

To put an icing on the cake, the A.g. Regional Chairman Mr. Jefferson Asare Danquah led the regional executive team to launch a project that will focus on getting all female nurses and midwives screened for cervical and breastfeeding cancer within the next 3 years.
This year's grand durbar also created an environment for nurses and midwives who have ventured into entrepreneurship to exhibit their products in a grand style.

The regional leadership of the association wishes to thank all participants for helping in diverse ways to make this event a huge success.

IWD 2025: GRNMA-GAR HOLDS REGIONAL SEMINAR TO EMPOWER WOMEN

Women remain a powerful pillar among the nursing workforce, and the GRNMA values the sacrifices and giant strides our women keep making in the health sector.
As part of activities to mark this year's International Women's Day, all regions have taken turns to hold seminars to empower the women and the GAR version was indeed a memorable one.

Speakers for the day included Ms. Esther Tawiah ( Executive Director, GENCED), Ms. Elizabeth Nyavor ( Programs Officer, Department of Gender) , Ms. Margaret Ofori ( Deputy National Coordinator, GRNMA women and gender committee) with the Ag. Regional Chairman, Mr. Jefferson Asare Danquah being the host of the event.

As we continue to push for the employer to implement a 100% Medicare for all nurses and midwives, the GRNMA through its health fund, continues to offer financial assistance to all members suffering from critical illness.

The latest beneficiaries of this support in GAR received sixty thousand cedis each (GHC 60,000) to facilitate their treatment.

Beneficiaries include :
1. Ms. Juliana ShaSha Anang (LEKMA District)

2. Mad. Francisca Peace Adzre (Ashaiman district)

Present during the presentations were the Head of Nursing and Midwifery services for Lekma Polyclinic and the Ashaiman Municipal Hospital, some regional & district executives, and some members of both facilities.

Beneficiaries were full of praise for the Mrs. Perpetual Ofori Ampofo-led administration for the implementation of such critical welfare packages and encouraged all nurses and midwives to support the association in the fight to better the lives of all nurses and midwives.
