GRNMA ROUNDS UP GAR TOUR WITH A GRAND DURBAR AT TEMA GENERAL HOSPITAL -18/3/2026

The national executive committee of the Ghana registered Nurses and midwives association successfully ended their tour of the Greater Accra region yesterday with a grand durbar hosted by the Tema district branch.
Day 2 of the tour commenced with a visit to the Kpone Hospital where a mini durbar was organised for the team led by the President of the association, Mrs. Perpetual Ofori Ampofo to interact with members in the facility.
The President, in her address, assured members present that concerns raised will be forwarded to the minister of health and other stakeholders for redress.
The next stop was at the Tema General Hospital, where a courtesy call was made to the management of the hospital. The acting nurse manager, together with the heads of finance and human resources, welcomed the entourage on behalf of the medical supt and other management members who were out on an equally important assignment.
The President used the moment to appreciate the support offered to nurses and midwives in the facility and pleaded for more on behalf of our members.

The team then zoomed into the grand durbar, which offered members from all parts of the region the opportunity to seek answers directly from leadership on a barage of issues.
Members left the venue quite satisfied and called for more of such engagements.

The regional leadership wishes to thank the national executive team led by our President, Mrs. Perpetual Ofori Ampofo for taking time of their busy schedule to engage members within our region, and wish the team God's guidance as they travel to other part of the country.

Our sincere gratitude also goes to all our cherished nurses and midwives who contributed in diverse ways to make the visit from NEC a memorable one.

Let's all continue to collaborate in building an enviable regional branch.

National Executive Committee of GRNMA PAYS COURTESY CALL ON GREATER ACCRA REGIONAL HEALTH DIRECTORATE - 16/03/2026

As part of a working visit to the Greater Accra Region, the National leadership of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association led by the President, Mrs. Perpetual Ofori Ampofo today visited the Greater Accra Regional Health Directorate.
The team was welcomed by the regional director of health services, Dr. Robert Amesiya, the regional Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer (CNMO), Mrs. Vivian Dwira and other deputy directors and departmental heads.

In outlining the purpose of the visit, the President of the Association mentioned that her team will be visiting the Kpone health centre and will also participate in a durbar to be hosted at the Tema general hospital , where members across the region are expected to interact and lay forth some challenges they face in their line of duty.
The regional director of health services, in his speech acknowledged the important role nurses and midwives play in the health delivery chain, and assured the association that his doors will always be opened for feedback after the tour so that all stakeholders can work together to address concerns raised.
Other members of the national executive team who joined the visit were the 1st vice president, Mr. Samuel Akolgo, Assist. secretary Mr. Anthony Sopaal, the national treasurer Mr. Moses Anyigba, national Assistant treasurer Mr. Thomas Lambon and the national p.r.o Mr. Joseph Krampah.
Also representing the Greater Accra regional leadership were the Regional Chairman Mr. Jefferson Asare Danquah, the 1st Vice chairperson Ms. Kate Botchwey-Mensah, the Regional PRO Mr. David Sam-Appiah, Assistant PRO Mr. Coleman Anani-Jr Adator, the Regional treasurer Mr. Mamudu Aminu and his Vice Ms. Margaret Dakubu.

GRNMA-GAR JOINS EVENT TO COMMEMORATE INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY 2026.

On wednesday 11th March 2026, delegates from the GAR joined nurses and midwives from other administrative regions to celebrate women at an event organised by the Women and Gender committee of the GRNMA.

The event brought together great personalities which included Prof. Margaret Gyapong from the University of health and Allied sciences, Mrs. Mary Amoah Kuffuor - founder Klicks Africa Foundation,Mr. Daniel Osei Tuffuor - the founder of YAWC Network among others.

Chairing this grand occasion, the president of the Ghana registered nurses and midwives association Mrs. Perpetual Ofori Ampofo seized the opportunity to call for equity when it comes to leadership roles in key establishments. She extolled the giant strides women have made in the field of health and other sectors and called for a levelled playing field for all.
Other speakers also empowered women with their speeches whiles urging men to support and help women thrive.

GRNMA-GAR ELECTS MR. JEFFERSON ASARE DANQUAH AS IT'S SUBSTANTIVE REGIONAL CHAIRMAN

The long awaited elections of the Greater Accra Regional branch of the GRNMA finally came of on friday, the 20th of February 2026 at the regional secretariat, Zoti - Korle-bu.

10 delegates each from the 21 administrative districts of the region converged to fulfil this constitutional mandate which arose due the untimely demise of the late Regional Chairman, Elder Prince Opuni Frimpong.

Contesting in this elections were Squadron Leader Bismark Asare of the 37 Nursing and Midwifery Training College, Mr. Samuel Hanu of the Mental Health Authority, Mr. Prosper Kpobi from Korle-bu Teaching Hospital (who later pulled out of the contest), the acting Chairman of the region Mr. Jefferson Asare Danquah and Mr. Michael Narh from the Public Health Nursing school.
At the end of the voting, Mr. Jefferson Asare Danquah was crowned the winner as he beat his closest contender Sqd. Ldr. Bismark Asare by a convincing margin (141 votes - 63votes).

The newly elected Chairman in his acceptance speech extended an olive branch to all contestants, invited everyone to join hands with him to build the regional brand into an enviable one.

The 1st Vice President of the association , Mr. Samuel Alagkora Akolgo (Esq.) in giving his closing remarks admonished all regional executives to support the elected Chairman to achieve his vision.
He also used the moment to swear into office the 1st vice Chairperson of the region Ms. Kate Botchwey-Mensah and the appointed APRO of the region, Mr. Coleman Anani-Jr Adator.

2ND EDITION OF LOVE BREEZE HELD SUCCESSFULLY

It was all glamorous and a celebration of love as Nurses and Midwives across the region showed up with their loved ones at the 2nd edition of GAR-GRNMA's love breeze celebration.

Patrons were treated to good live band tunes from the Ghana armed forces band and the extra talented DJ jakes.

With vendors providing sumptuous meals and varieties of drinks, the atmosphere was truly an ecstatic one.
