IWD 2025: GRNMA-GAR HOLDS REGIONAL SEMINAR TO EMPOWER WOMEN

Women remain a powerful pillar among the nursing workforce, and the GRNMA values the sacrifices and giant strides our women keep making in the health sector.
As part of activities to mark this year's International Women's Day, all regions have taken turns to hold seminars to empower the women and the GAR version was indeed a memorable one.

Speakers for the day included Ms. Esther Tawiah ( Executive Director, GENCED), Ms. Elizabeth Nyavor ( Programs Officer, Department of Gender) , Ms. Margaret Ofori ( Deputy National Coordinator, GRNMA women and gender committee) with the Ag. Regional Chairman, Mr. Jefferson Asare Danquah being the host of the event.

GRNMA HEALTH FUND: TWO (2) MEMBERS IN GAR RECEIVE 120,000 GHC AS HEALTH AID - 16TH JUNE,2025
➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖️➖️➖️➖️➖️

As we continue to push for the employer to implement a 100% Medicare for all nurses and midwives, the GRNMA through its health fund, continues to offer financial assistance to all members suffering from critical illness.

The latest beneficiaries of this support in GAR received sixty thousand cedis each (GHC 60,000) to facilitate their treatment.

Beneficiaries include :
1. Ms. Juliana ShaSha Anang (LEKMA District)

2. Mad. Francisca Peace Adzre (Ashaiman district)

Present during the presentations were the Head of Nursing and Midwifery services for Lekma Polyclinic and the Ashaiman Municipal Hospital, some regional & district executives, and some members of both facilities.

Beneficiaries were full of praise for the Mrs. Perpetual Ofori Ampofo-led administration for the implementation of such critical welfare packages and encouraged all nurses and midwives to support the association in the fight to better the lives of all nurses and midwives.

GRNMA STRIKE ACTION ENTERS FULL GEAR
The past two days have been very eventful as Nurses and Midwives across the country express their fury towards the failure of the Ministry of health and the Ministry of Finance to authorize the implementation of collective agreement signed to enhance the living conditions of all members.
Members have followed the roadmap announced by the Mrs. Perpetual Ofori Ampofo led executive team with keen interest, as the red arm band has been seen displayed by the nurses and midwives across all public facilities within the Greater Accra region and beyond.
its disheartening that Nurses and Midwives who are the backbone of the country's health sector will be treated as 3rd class citizens by our employers, and we urge all members to remain steadfast in our quest to see the COS fully implemented.

INTERNATIONAL NURSES DAY 2025:

All across the globe, 12th May, being the birthday of Florence Nightingale, has been earmarked as a day to celebrate all Nurses for their devotion and commitment towards service to humanity.

The Ghana registered nurses and midwives association on such a grand occasion seized the moment to amplify the challenges faced by our members in their everyday life .

Dignitaries present, including the deputy chief of staff at the office of the President, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, the chief labour officer, and the Paramount Chief of the New Juaben traditional area Daasebre Kwaku Boateng III all took turns in eulogizing Nurses and midwives and gave assurances on better conditions of service in the years ahead.

GAR IDM 2025:

This week has been really eventful, as the Greater Accra Region wasn't left out in the celebration of Midwives across the globe.

Midwives from all parts of the Greater Accra Region gathered on the 7th of May,2025, at the conference room of the regional secretariat for a great symposium to mark this year's IDM.

From the keynote speaker to the midwife poet who energized the auditorium with her heart melting poems, the event was blessed with transformational messages that one will cherish for ages..

Indeed,Midwives ought to be celebrated for all their sacrifices, empathy, and dedication.

The week cannot end without we saying.....

AYEKOO TO OUR GALLANT MIDWIVES 🍇🍇🍇

As part of organized labour and a strong voice (if not the strongest) among the unions within the health sector , the GRNMA showed up at the Black Star Square to mark this year's Workers Day celebration.

The association seized the moment to re-echo our demands as the nurses and midwives are not well resourced and compensated for service rendered.
A tall list of demands included the following:

** Better renumeration
** Restoration of the vehicle tax waiver
** Rural allowances
** Book and research allowances
** Free medical care for nurses and midwives
** Overall implementation of the GRNMA's collective agreement with the government.
