GRAND DURBAR OF THE 2025 GAR NURSES & MIDWIVES SUCCESSFULLY HELD - 6/8/2025
Today at the GRNMA event centre Korle-bu , nurses and midwives from the 21 administrative districts of the region gathered to celebrate the giant strides made in the profession over the past months.
Despite facing challenges such as poor conditions of service, low remuneration, no medical insurance etc, nurses and midwives continue to break their backs in line of duty just to alleviate pain and to save lives.
Keynote speaker of the ceremony, Dr. Mary Opare seized the moment to encourage the nurses and midwives of this generation to strive for greatness by seeking career advancement and embracing modern trends in the field of nursing.
The special guest of honour, Mp for Ablekuma south. Dr. Okow Vanderpuije assured all nurses and midwives that the current government cherishes our service and will be rolling out great initiatives to better our living conditions in the years ahead.
The current regional director of the Ghana Health service, Dr. Robert Amesiya acknowledged the critical role nurses and midwives play in the health sector and also assured the staff of his support.
To put an icing on the cake, the A.g. Regional Chairman Mr. Jefferson Asare Danquah led the regional executive team to launch a project that will focus on getting all female nurses and midwives screened for cervical and breastfeeding cancer within the next 3 years.
This year's grand durbar also created an environment for nurses and midwives who have ventured into entrepreneurship to exhibit their products in a grand style.
The regional leadership of the association wishes to thank all participants for helping in diverse ways to make this event a huge success.
