What if one career choice could change access to healthcare across an entire country?
The Occupational Therapy Association of Ghana is excited to welcome Kathleen Appau, .otds a doctoral student from the University of Scranton, who is partnering with us to raise awareness about occupational therapy in Ghana 🇬🇭
Right now, the reality is stark:
👉 1 occupational therapist serves over 800,000 people
👉 Services are available in only 4 out of 16 regions — mostly in the south
That means thousands of children and families across Ghana are going without the support they need to thrive.
Kathleen’s project is focused on something powerful:
✨ Inspiring the next generation
By introducing high school students to occupational therapy — what it is, why it matters, and giving them hands-on exposure — we are planting seeds for the future.
Because when more young people choose this path, we don’t just grow a profession…
We expand access. We reach more regions. We change lives.
This is how systems begin to shift 💜
Thank you to for acting as a site mentor and a special thank you to for supporting Kathleen on the capstone project
