On Thursday, June 5, the Ghana National Chamber of Pharmacy (GNCoP), in collaboration with Pharmaceutical Importers and Wholesalers Association (PIWA), hosted a stakeholder engagement meeting with senior leadership from the Ghana Revenue Authority - Official (GRA) to discuss key customs and tax challenges affecting our industry.
The meeting, held at Palms by Eagles in Airport-Accra, brought together brought together leadership from the GRA—including the Commissioner-General, Commissioners for Customs and Domestic Tax, as well as representatives from Food and Drugs Authority Ghana, Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Ghana Standards Authority, Ghana Shippers' Authority, Importers, Wholesalers, Retailers and Community Pharmacies.
Together, we addressed pressing issues such as VAT exemptions, product classification inconsistencies, port storage fees, and regulatory clarity. The discussions were solution-driven and focused on building a fair, transparent, and supportive environment for pharmaceutical trade.
We are grateful to all who participated and especially to the GRA leadership for their openness and commitment to continued collaboration.
