INTRODUCTION TO ICON HEALTH
Icon Health is a registered and non-profit multidisciplinary group of health professionals and individuals who have come together to promote health education across the globe. It originated from Ghana with its founding members being junior and senior members of the College of Health in Korlebu Teaching hospital. Through our practice in taking care of patients and in carrying out health education in our various communities (schools, hospitals, churches and corporate bodies), we have realized the need to come together to reach out to more people with well researched medical education and promote the health of people in the process. This firm resolve was thereby instituted to promote health, save lives, and prevent diseases in people all over the world starting with our own nation Ghana. Other health specialists were then invited to make the team wholesome and a multi-disciplinary body capable of carrying out vital researches for public benefit. Members of Icon Health System thus include health professionals, medical students, nurses and individuals interested in joining the course of promoting the wellbeing of humanity. Just as we had individually contributed to the wellbeing of others, Icon Health members have come together to undertake this health promotion and disease prevention projects for the benefit of the general public. Individuals in Icon Health have published essential works that have aided the public in diverse ways (An Urge to Succeed, Cerebral Palsy Aid, Stroke Rehab booklet etc). We have also carried out many health education projects as leaders of our student associations (University of Ghana Medical Students Association UGMSA, University of Ghana Allied Health Student Association UGAHSA, University of Ghana Association of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Students UGAPS, National Health Students Association of Ghana NAHSAG, and Federation of Ghana Catholic Health Trainees FGCHT) in the college of health. Icon Health is thus affiliated and in harmony with the above student groups.
