World Breastfeeding Week 2025, this year's theme is "Prioritise Breastfeeding: Create Sustainable Support Systems."
This is a powerful reminder that breastfeeding is not a personal choice made in a vacuum, but a community effort that requires lasting support.

A sustainable support system means:

At Home: Partners, family, and friends offering encouragement and practical help.

In Healthcare: Skilled lactation support from trained health workers, beginning in the hospital and continuing after discharge.

At Work: Workplace policies that provide paid maternity leave, flexible hours, and dedicated spaces for pumping.

By creating these systems, we ensure mothers have the resources they need to breastfeed successfully, contributing not only to the health of babies and mothers but also to a more sustainable and equitable world.

Let's prioritize breastfeeding together and build a support system that lasts for generations.

Fueling your body is a key part of the breastfeeding journey! 🀱 What you eat helps nourish both you and your baby, but it doesn't have to be complicated.

Think of it as an opportunity to eat a variety of nutrient-rich foods that you enjoy. Here's a quick guide to good nutrition while breastfeeding:

πŸ’§ Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate: Breast milk is mostly water, so make sure you're drinking plenty of fluids. Keep a water bottle with you and sip throughout the day.

πŸ₯— Eat a Rainbow: Fill your plate with a variety of fruits and veggies to get all the vitamins and minerals you need.

πŸ’ͺ Prioritize Protein: Lean meats, fish, eggs, beans, and lentils are great for energy and tissue repair.

πŸ₯‘ Don't Forget Healthy Fats: Foods like avocados, nuts, seeds, and salmon are great for your baby's brain development.

🍞 Choose Whole Grains: Opt for brown rice, oats, and whole-wheat bread for sustained energy to keep up with your little one.

Remember, every mother's journey is unique. If you have questions about your diet, it's always a good idea to chat with your healthcare provider.

Happy World Breastfeeding Week 2025! 🀱🀱🀱

Did you know breast milk adapts to your baby's needs through different stages?

Colostrum is the first milk, often called "liquid gold." It's thick, yellowish, and packed with antibodies to protect your newborn in their first few days of life.

Next comes transitional milk, a mix of colostrum and mature milk that lasts for about two weeks. It's creamier and provides more fat and calories as your baby grows.

Finally, there's mature milk. This is the milk produced from two weeks onward. It's thinner and can even change during a single feeding! The watery foremilk at the start quenches your baby's thirst, while the fattier hindmilk at the end satisfies their hunger.

Every drop of breast milk is a testament to a mother's body and its ability to provide perfect nutrition. What's one thing you found surprising about breast milk?
