Africa’s agriculture has huge potential, but productivity is the real game-changer. Right now, most growth comes from using more land rather than producing more efficiently, a path that won’t last. Yet Africa’s agrifood system already provides 2/3 of all jobs, showing just how much potential there is if productivity improves.

The solution is clear: smarter public investment, supportive policies, and private-sector engagement can boost productivity, create sustainable employment, and reduce reliance on imports, turning Africa’s food systems into engines of inclusive growth.
