Hepatitis Foundation of Ghana Hepatitis B

1) To prevent Hepatitis B spread amongst people or patients and their families.

2) To provide treatment, care support and psychosocial support for infected and affected people and their families.

3) To provide protection from stigma and discrimination in the houses, churches, market places and offices living with or affected by Hepatitis B.

4) Promoting disease awareness, supporting immunization and treatment initiatives, and serving as the primary source of information for patients and their families and the general public.

As the African Hepatitis Summit draws near, the World Hepatitis Alliance Afro Lead and board member , Shaibu Issa, shares why urgent action is needed.

He reminds us that hepatitis continues to devastate African communities and stresses that community leadership is key in raising awareness and driving access to testing and treatment.

With the theme “No Time to Waste: Act Now”, the Summit will bring policymakers, civil society, and communities to seek ways to accelerate elimination.

This is an event co-created by community members represented by World Hepatitis Alliance (WHA), AFRO members and the Hq Team; Africa CDC, WHO AFRO and WHO HQ, Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI); Hepatitis B Foundation; Coalition for Global Hepatitis Elimination (CGHE), Rwanda Ministry of Health and the African Union Commission.

Africa CDC plans to launch its HBV Tool Kit.
WHO AFRO Plans to hold its country managers’ engagement.
WHA will host its NOHep Medical Visionaries Program.
CHAI will host its partners…
Community members will showcase their voices.
CGHE will promote the UN Group of Friends, highlighting Africa's inclusion and progress on HB Birthdose vaccines.
