DESCRIPTION
Accra Psychiatric Hospital formerly named Lunatic Asylum was built at Adabraka in 1904 and commissioned in 1906 with about 110 patients admitted and under the charge of 16 untrained attendants. The hospital provides psychiatric care to clients far and near, be it OPD basis, admission and discharge of patients to OPD care. GENERAL OVER-VIEW
The Hospital operates within the whole catchment area of Accra Metropolitan. There are 19 wards of which 12 are male wards and 7 being female. We also have 18 existing operational departments; some of which are: Pharmacy, In-service training unit, Social Welfare, Nursing Administration, Catering, Occupational Therapy and Laboratory among others.
