For the past decade, KOFIH has been in the Volta and Oti regions, supporting safe deliveries, training health workers and helping health facilities save more lives.

This week, we were delighted to welcome the new Regional Director of Health Services Dr. Kofi Amo-Kodieh and his team to the Ghana Office. Together we reflected on milestones achieved and explored new ways to further strengthen healthcare delivery for communities in the region.

Another team of brilliant specialists has arrived in South Korea for the 2025 Dr LEE Jong-wook Fellowship Program training course for infectious disease specialists 🦠

Over the next two months, they will take part in intensive training, exchange knowledge with international experts and return home ready to strengthen Ghana’s fight against infectious diseases while advancing for all Ghanaians. 🇬🇭

We are rooting for them every step of the way! 🇰🇷🇬🇭

together with a team from Ghana Health Service visited sites in the Northern and Volta Regions set for the construction of new Prosthetics and Orthotics Centres under the “Improving Rehabilitation Services for Children with Disabilities” project.

In the Ashanti Region, the former Bekwai Municipal Health Directorate will be renovated into a fully equipped rehabilitation workshop.

These initiatives are designed to create inclusive, child-friendly spaces where children living with disabilities can access the quality care they need closer to home.

Together, we can make healthcare more accessible for every child to grow, move and thrive!

Mr. Ebenezer Boakye Amponsah, a Senior Public Health Officer at the Ghana Health Service, joined colleagues from other countries as the only Ghanaian selected for the Health Policy and Management course under the 2025 Dr LEE Jong-wook Fellowship Programme.

After three months of intensive training at the Graduate School of Public Health, Yonsei University in South Korea, he is back to Ghana with an award of distinction.

Ghana is proud of his remarkable achievements and looks forward to the implementation of his action plan, which aims to advance the digitalisation of Ghana’s health system.

We remain committed to strengthening the capacity of health professionals to contribute effectively to delivery in Ghana.

Did you know is supporting the construction of a Regional Biomedical Engineering Workshop for the Greater Accra Region through its Biomedical Equipment Management Strengthening Project in Ghana?

We recently visited the construction site with our partners from the Greater Accra Regional Health Directorate, Ministry of Health and Ghana Health Service and we are pleased to share that the work is making excellent progress as planned.

Once completed and operational, this workshop will play a critical role in ensuring that medical equipment remain in optimal condition, allowing healthcare professionals to provide even better services to everyone in Ghana.

We deeply appreciate the hard work of everyone contributing to this project.

Over 1.2 billion adults (aged 30 to 79) are living with hypertension, and more than 537 million (aged 20 to 79) had diabetes as of 2021.

Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) remain a major public health concern, but they are largely preventable with the right policies and interventions!

Our joint study with the NHIS Ghana shows that fully integrating preventive healthcare into the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) is a step that will not only improve health outcomes for Ghanaians but also reduce long-term healthcare costs for the country.
