Lupus awareness month ππΎππΎ
Lupus also known as systemic lupus erythematosus, SLE, is an inflammatory disease caused when the immune system attacks its own tissues.
SLE can affect the joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, brain, heart and lungs. Symptoms include: fatigue, joint pain, rash, fever, anaemia, hair loss, mouth ulcers, depression, weight loss, etc.
There is no cure for lupus but current treatments control the symptoms and minimize flare-ups. This begins with lifestyle modifications including sun protection and diet. Immunosuppressants and steroids are used to manage the condition. If you have any questions on lupus, feel free to put it in the comments section or send a dm.
