✨🌍 Update on the IUNS - ICN Paris 2025 🌍✨

The 23rd International Congress of Nutrition (ICN) took place successfully in Paris, France, from August 24 to 29, 2025. This prestigious global event served as a platform for scientists, practitioners, and policymakers to exchange insights and collaboratively shape the future of nutrition worldwide.

The Congress featured urgent discussions on sustainable food systems, nutrition equity, maternal and child health, non-communicable diseases, and dietetics and public health nutrition innovations. It was a true reflection of the global commitment to advancing nutrition for all.

🇬🇭 Ghana had the honor of participating through the Ghana Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (GAND), alongside our valued partners and stakeholders, showcasing our dedication to advancing nutrition science and practice.

Some highlights from Paris:
• Canada has been selected to host the next IUNS Congress. Ghana 🇬🇭 presented a strong and determined bid and was narrowly edged out by just one vote. This demonstrates the growing strength of Ghana’s voice in global nutrition.
• In a historic achievement, two of our esteemed professors have been elected to the new IUNS Executive Council for 2025–2029:
• Professor Francis Zotor — elected as IUNS Vice President
• Professor Amos Laar — elected as a Council Member

We wholeheartedly congratulate Professor Francis Zotor and Professor Amos Laar on this remarkable milestone! Their election is a powerful testament to Ghana’s rising influence and recognition on the international stage.

A very special thank you to the team of Ghana delegates who led the Ghana bid. Your commitment, resilience, and hard work are deeply appreciated. 🌍

🌍 IUNS 2025 Updates 🌍

The results are in — Canada has been selected as the next host of the International Union of Nutritional Sciences (IUNS) Congress.

Ghana 🇬🇭 put forward strong , and we are proud to share that we lost by only one vote. This is a testament to the strength of Ghana’s growing voice in global nutrition.

Although we narrowly missed hosting this time, our candidacy has created remarkable visibility and recognition for Ghana on the international stage. This milestone sets the foundation for even greater opportunities ahead, and Ghana will continue working to prepare a stronger bid for the future.

Day 3 at the International Congress of Nutrition was packed with inspiring discussions and cutting-edge science! 🌍💡

🔹 Global Policy & Food Systems – Insights on ultra-processed diets, supermarket food placement policies, and advancing the global nutrition agenda through UN–academia collaboration.

🔹 Maternal, Child & Public Health – Powerful plenary lectures on maternal and child nutrition in crises, early childhood malnutrition, and the impact of school meals and food fortification.

🔹 Innovation & Future Directions – From AI in nutrition and microbiota-based precision nutrition to leadership development and micronutrient interventions for vulnerable populations.
