Honoured to keynote the University of Ghana School of Veterinary Medicine’s Public Lecture Series at WACCBIP!
Dr. Ayodeji Ayotunde Oni delivered a powerful talk on Honey Bee Health in Ghana: Promoting Awareness of Colony Collapse Drivers. 🐝
I spoke directly to students, urging them to see honey bee health not just as science—but as business. A single nucleus colony (nuc) sells for £280–£320 (~GHS 4,800). And that’s just the bees! Think honey, wax, pollination services, and value-added products. 💰🍯
Later, I toured apiaries supported by the UK Defra AHSS programme—set up for hands-on bee health training and honey production with the School of Veterinary Medicine and the National Association of Women Bee Farmers. 🌍👩🏽🔬
