📢 The National Blood Service Welcomes New Governing Board!
The Ministry of Health, Ghana has inaugurated the Governing Boards of six key health agencies, and we're proud to share that the National Blood Service (NBS) is one of them! 🙌
We warmly welcome Dr. Emmanuel Maurice Ankrah as the newly appointed Chairperson of the NBS Board. With his leadership, we are confident in our collective efforts to strengthen the national blood supply system and advance our mandate of ensuring safe, adequate, and accessible blood supply for all who need it.
During the ceremony, Hon. Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, underscored the urgent need to address Ghana’s annual blood deficit of 120,000 units, a challenge we at NBS are committed to overcoming through innovation, strong governance, and community engagement.
The new Board is expected to provide strategic direction, enhance oversight, and drive reforms to improve our operations, from blood donor mobilization and blood collection to processing, testing, distribution, and data-driven service delivery.
We look forward to working closely with the Ministry of Health, our stakeholders, and the Ghanaian public to save more lives, build public trust, and elevate the standards of blood services in .
