Thomas is a
Partner at Pinsent Masons (South Africa) and a Fellow of the Center. He has over 15 years’ experience advising developer and contractor clients across major projects in the energy, construction and infrastructure sectors globally. He regularly advises in relation to issues arising under FIDIC, NEC, and other bespoke forms of contract, on day-to-day contract management issues, and the resolution of multi-million Dollar claims through arbitration, adjudication (and subsequent enforcement) and other alternative dispute resolution proceedings. His recent experience includes advising EPC Contractors in relation Africa’s largest coal power stations, developers and EPC / O&M Contractors in relation to solar PV and CSP plants on the African continent, and the EPC Contractor on a biomass plant in South Africa.

Thomas is the South African board representative of Africa Construction Law, a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and sits on the Arbitral Foundation of South Africa’s (AFSA) International Arbitration committee. He is ranked as a Future Leader (Partner) – Arbitration by Lexology (2025), is a frequent publisher in the domestic and international legal press, and regularly performs lecturing, speaking and training engagements on construction law, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution topics.
