As we celebrate Ghana’s precious heritage of independence and freedom, let us also remind everyone that freedom of a nation without selflessness, unity and proper planning among citizens, leadership and friends, sooner or later begins to fade into other forms of slavery and oppression from diverse directions.

In this time that Ghana is going through economic and political crisis, it is important that we recognize the enemy of freedom is greed, selfishness and betrayal of different forms in citizens and leadership.

Africa is not the helpless and sick continent it is purported to be in the eyes of the world but rather a blessed and well-endowed continent that lacks the coordination necessary to protect and sustain its beauty, resources and humanity.

If Ghana, which gained its independence as one of the very first in the history of Africa is still struggling with its leadership, resources and economy after 66 years of independence, then we must not rejoice but rather reflect and accept our responsibility to reignite the joy of freedom and the call to restructure and rebuild our nation through honesty, team work and love for our motherland and for humanity.

The road hasn't been smooth but God came through for us. We started studying public health in 2019 only to be hit by the world's biggest public health emergency and pandemic.

We had to study and practice in reality and in the present. Learning and writing about a new disease while no experts had the full knowledge of what was going on.

It was interesting because both lecturer and student have to now learn and apply afresh and learn from each other. It wasn't a time to spoon feed or the most common adage 'chew and pour'. It was actual and real for us to grasp and apply concepts in the present.

Above it all, we passed through all the challenges and finally graduated as ambassadors of the prestigious University of Ghana.

Thanks to Icon Health System and its leaders for the supports. Gratitude to our wonderful lecturers who stood up to the task even in the midst of the pandemic. We love and appreciate you all.
