St Thomas Eye Hospital is a specialist eye clinic providing advanced surgical services in retinal detachment, laser surgeries, cataract, and glaucoma etc. It also has a community outreach program that provides free medical screening and surgeries to people living in extreme poverty.

The Saint Thomas Eye Hospital is a privately owned pro-poor specialist eye clinic with state-of-the-art facilities located at Mataheko in Accra. It used to be called the North Western Eye Centre but changed to its current name in 2013.

The Latter Day Saints upon the humble request have presented an Optical Coherence Tomography, a Retinal Camera with FFA and FAF Capabilities as well as an ultrasound Scan that was so crucial in helping to diagnose retinal detachments.

Since the year 2010, the hospital has been providing between 800 and 1,000 free cataract and pterygium surgeries each year. In February this year, together with our visiting friends from the US, we provided free Retinal Detachment surgeries to more than 30 patients who otherwise would have stayed blind.

Its surgical services portfolio includes a wide range of vitreoretinal surgeries, phacoemulsification, manual small incisional cataract surgeries (SICS), trabeculectomy, squint surgeries and a wide range of laser surgeries.

It is the mission of the hospital to be a leader in ophthalmic services in Ghana through the provision of accessible and affordable high-quality general and sub-specialty services that meet the expectations of all its clients.
