🎓 KNMTC’s First-Ever Graduation: A Historic Milestone in Nursing and Midwifery Education

On February 21, 2025, the Kokofu Nursing and Midwifery Training College (KNMTC) achieved a significant milestone, hosting its 1st Graduation Ceremony to honor the remarkable Class of 2024. This momentous occasion was not just a celebration of academic excellence but also a reflection of the institution’s dedication to producing highly skilled healthcare professionals.

✨ In total, 206 students were conferred diplomas and certificates, marking a historic achievement for the institution. Among them, 186 students represented the Class of 2024, while 20 graduates from past cohorts—who had not previously received a formal graduation ceremony—were finally given the honor they deserved.

🎤 A Grand Opening & Chairman’s Address

The event was chaired by Dr. Isaac Augustus Antwi, the Board Chairman of KNMTC, who has led the institution’s advisory board for the past eight years. His presence underscored the depth of commitment and leadership that has shaped the college’s progress.

In his address, he expressed deep gratitude for witnessing the growth of KNMTC and the remarkable achievements of its students:

"It is an honor to be here on my own royal soil, sharing in this significant milestone. Having served as Board Chairman for the past eight years, I take great pride in witnessing the growth and achievements of this institution. This is only the beginning of greater things to come."

His words resonated with all present, setting the tone for a ceremony filled with pride, reflection, and a renewed vision for the future.

🎤 Principal’s Address: A Call to Excellence

The Principal, Mrs. Joyce Gifty Otchere, in her inspiring speech, commended the graduates for their dedication, perseverance, and pursuit of excellence. She emphasized that their journey had only just begun, urging them to maintain professionalism and compassion as they step into their careers.

She reminded them that nursing and midwifery go beyond technical skills—it is a calling that requires empathy, integrity, and a lifelong commitment to learning. Her words served as a powerful motivation to the graduates, inspiring them to uphold the highest standards in their profession.

🎤 Guest Speaker’s Address: The Weight of Responsibility

The keynote address was delivered by the esteemed Dr. Mrs. Jemima Araba Denis Antwi, whose thought-provoking speech reminded the graduates of the enormous responsibility they now carry.

She passionately stated:

"You are indeed accountable for your decisions and actions, especially as you enter the profession that borders on life and death, where every decision you make on and around your patient or client may spell survival or doom."

Her words served as a reminder that healthcare professionals are entrusted with human lives, and every action they take has real consequences. The graduates listened intently, understanding that their education was only the foundation of a lifelong journey of learning and service.

🎓 Conferring of Diplomas & Certificates

A significant highlight of the ceremony was the official conferring of diplomas and certificates to 206 graduates. Dr. Samuel Sem, Head of Academics, took center stage to present awards to the deserving students, recognizing their commitment and perseverance throughout their studies.

The air was filled with emotion as these individuals stepped forward, signifying not just personal achievement but the collective success of KNMTC in shaping healthcare professionals ready to serve.

🏆 Honoring Excellence: Special Awards & Recognition

As part of the celebration, KNMTC recognized outstanding students who had demonstrated exceptional performance in their fields of study:

🏅 Joyce Ofori: Awarded as the Best Registered Nursing Assistant Clinical Student
🎓 Sylvester Asare: Named Best Registered General Nursing Student & Valedictorian

The audience erupted in applause as these outstanding students stepped forward to receive their awards. Their achievements serve as a testament to hard work, resilience, and a deep commitment to the profession.
