UPDATE ON THE RESTRICTIONS IMPOSED FOLLOWING THE OUTBREAK OF ANTHRAX IN THE UPPER EAST REGION—26TH JUNE, 2023
1. Animals coming from neighboring countries(Burkina Faso, Togo and Niger) are allowed to pass through the region after certification by Veterinary officers at the point of entry.
2. Movement of animals within the region still remain restricted.
3. Ban on slaughtering, sale and consumption of meat and meat products from sheep, goats, cattle, donkeys, pigs is still in force.
4. Individuals who have had their animals vaccinated with certified anthrax vaccines before 20th June, 2023 are allowed to slaughter under strict supervision of Veterinary officers and Environmental services officers, preferably at designated slaughter houses or places certified by Veterinary officers.
5. Community members are to avoid eating dead animals
6. All dead animals are to be reported to the nearest Veterinary officers, Volunteers, Assembly members and Environmental health officers for investigation.
