While you were ignoring her on Whatsapp I was giving her more attention.

Should You Feel Guilty Going To Church Right After S*x?

My husband is often amorous on Sunday mornings when we get a chance to be together for a longer time in bed. This often leads to s*x. Often time, we are dressing up for church when he jumps at me and we end up having s*x. Then we clean up and proceed to church. But this makes me uncomfortable being in church knowing we have just been having s*x and sometimes feeling wet.

My question... is having s*x before going to church godly or ungodly? I personally have heard several comments about the same issue.


Counselor’s advice

I appreciate your effort to seek help in this matter because we tend to separate issues of church and s*x, and yet initially it was God’s idea at the time of creation. I would like to reaffirm to you that s*x before church is not sin.

It becomes sin if it is out of wedlock or before marriage. What should comfort you is that at the time of creation, Genesis 1:24-25, God made man and woman. They were both naked and unashamed. St. Paul further addressed s*x in marriage by urging the couple not to deny each other s*x; except when they agree for purposes of prayer (1 Corinthians 7:5).

However, what you can do differently is the timing. For most couples, Sunday is the day of sleeping a little longer due to the tight and stressful week schedule. If this is your time, you can wake him up earlier so that you do not rush through, which leaves you with guilt.

If this is not possible, some churches have multiple services so you can look out for the one that gives you comfort to handle your lives as a couple as well as attend church together.

Alternatively, you can adjust and have it the night before, or later in the afternoon when both of you are relaxed. What you need to appreciate as a couple is that if you do not meet each other’s s*xual needs, it can make one of you susceptible to infidelity, which leads to sin.

Again, while you may resist his move, thinking that s*x before church is sin, what about the thoughts and grumpiness you will both experience that may block you from enjoying the church service?

As a couple you could explore different ways you can meet each other’s s*xual needs so that it does not distress you.
