FAMILIARIZATION VISIT BY THE MUNICIPAL CHIEF EXECUTIVE TO THE VOLTA REGIONAL HOSPITAL, HOHOE

On Monday, 4th August 2025, the Volta Regional Hospital (VRH), Hohoe, welcomed the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Prosper Kumi, and his delegation, including the Municipal Coordinating Director, on a working visit to the facility. The purpose of the visit was to strengthen collaboration, deepen intersectoral partnerships, and explore ways to improve healthcare delivery in the municipality.

The MCE and his team were received by the hospital’s management, led by the recently appointed Medical Director, Dr. Aiden Suntaa Saanwie, who officially resumed duty less than a month ago. The meeting provided an opportunity for the MCE to familiarize himself with the hospital’s leadership, understand its operational challenges, and reaffirm the assembly’s commitment to health development in the municipality.

Key Issues Discussed were :
1. Intersectoral Partnerships for Development
2. State of key Health Indicators
3. Human Resource Gaps
4. Staff Welfare
5. Water and Sanitation

In his remarks, Hon. Prosper Kumi praised the commitment and resilience of the staff and assured the hospital of the Assembly’s readiness to collaborate and address pressing needs. He emphasized that health remained a top priority on his developmental agenda.

The leadership of VRH expressed gratitude for the visit and looked forward to stronger engagement with the Assembly as the hospital continues to serve as the principal referral center in the Volta Region.

MAIDEN STAFF DURBAR OF DR. AIDEN SUNTAA SAANWIE
Last week (30/07/2025), the newly appointed Medical Director of the Volta Regional Hospital-Hohoe Dr. Aiden Suntaa Saanwie, held his maiden meeting with staff of the facility. The gathering brought together members of hospital management, heads of departments, and various cadres of staff.

In his address, Dr. Aiden Suntaa Saanwie expressed his profound appreciation for the opportunity to serve in his new capacity, stating that he was pleased to join what he described as a hardworking team of professionals. He commended the staff for their unwavering commitment and resilience in maintaining high professional standards amidst the numerous challenges confronting the hospital. He confidently introduced himself as THE MAN FOR THE JOB, reaffirming his readiness to lead the hospital through its current obstacles and towards a path of growth and improvement. His remarks were met with optimism and applause from attendees.

The interactive session that followed allowed staff to take turns sharing their experiences, asking pertinent questions, and proposing constructive suggestions aimed at enhancing service delivery and the overall performance of the hospital. The meeting was marked by a spirit of collegiality, mutual respect, and shared commitment to the hospital’s vision. It set a positive tone for collaborative leadership and continuous engagement between management and staff.

The hospital community looks forward to working closely with Dr. Aiden Suntaa Saanwie to realize meaningful progress in healthcare delivery at the Volta Regional Hospital, Hohoe.

: Dr. Victor Loglo is a dedicated medical doctor with over ten years of community health advocacy experience. He currently serves as Programs Manager of United Projects and a medical officer at Volta Regional Hospital in Ghana. Victor leads a team addressing health disparities in hard-to-reach island communities on Volta Lake, providing essential maternal and child healthcare services, including immunizations, family planning, consultations, and emergency referrals.

He holds an advanced diploma in Community Medicine and Health from the College of Health-Kintampo, a bachelor's degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) from the University of Health and Allied Sciences, and is pursuing a Master of Public Health (Family and Reproductive Health) at the same institution.

Growing up in an island community, he is passionate about improving healthcare access and is committed to adolescent sexual and reproductive health and maternal and child health promotion. Upon completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Victor plans to advocate for primary healthcare in island communities and establish mobile health facilities.
