The Food and Drugs Authority will on Thursday, 9th July, 2020 launch a Progressive Licensing Scheme for Small Scale/ Cottage Food Processors. This Progressive Licensing Scheme will have three (3) stages of licensing (i.e. Pink, Yellow and Green). This scheme is aimed at helping the local food industry grow to an extent that all grocery shops/ supermarkets will be stocked with at least 60% of made in Ghana food products.

The Government of Ghana, through the FDA has developed a new system of Progressive Licensing to support these small units, as they provide employment and generate income for their operators.

The FDA will continue to protect public health and safety by reducing the risk of foodborne illness and contributing to economic development by maintaining consumer confidence in the food system and providing a sound regulatory foundation for domestic and international trade in food.

A virtual engagement to launch the Licensing scheme is as follows:

REPORT: Don't spray disinfectants to kill coronavirus, WHO advises.

Spraying disinfectants outside or across broad spaces indoors to try to kill coronavirus can do more harm than good, the World Health Organization advised Saturday.

And spraying people is a really bad idea, WHO said in an updated advisory on infection control.

WHO cited studies showing that trying to spray bleach or other chemicals over a wide area is ineffective. The same goes for ultraviolet light disinfecting, the agency said.

“Moreover, spraying disinfectants can result in risks to the eyes, respiratory or skin irritation and the resulting health effects,” WHO said. “Spraying or fogging of certain chemicals, such as formaldehyde, chlorine-based agents or quaternary ammonium compounds, is not recommended due to adverse health effects on workers in facilities where these methods have been utilized."
Some governments have fogged streets and some groups have been washing down sidewalks, but WHO said it’s probably a waste of effort.

“Spraying or fumigation of outdoor spaces, such as streets or marketplaces, is also not recommended to kill the COVID-19 virus or other pathogens because disinfectant is inactivated by dirt and debris and it is not feasible to manually clean and remove all organic matter from such spaces,” the agency said.

Why are people doubting the recovery figure of 1460.

For me all along I felt that the recoveries were too small since the deaths were not increasing and the infection rate low .

Actually I doubted the low recoveries that were being reported initially.

I think the authorities wanted to be doubly sure.

Just go back and check the figures and the President’s addresses

He always stated the number of people who were responding to treatment as against those who were critically ill.

And those responding to treatment were more with just a few critically ill.

Adɛn so those responding to treatment won’t they ever recover?

Dear His excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo.

Something is going on which is not right and I will like to draw your attention to it.

Last February a pack of surgical nose masks cost between GH15-20.

And a pack contained between 50 to 100 pieces of nose masks.

Yesterday when we went to the market to purchase those same nose masks they now cost between GH150-250 for the same number of pieces.

This is more than 1000% increase in the price.

Apparently those masks are being sold along the streets for GH3.00 per piece.

And I don’t understand why.

You have subsidized electricity by 50% and given us free water for three months to stop the spread of the virus and to ease our cost burden.

Why should nose mask which you keep admonishing us to wear be soo dear Your excellency.

Why is nose mask, something which is very essential to help fight this pandemic become a profit making venture for some people.

In the Czech Republic people sewed the home made nose masks and distributed them for free.

That was their small way to help fight the pandemic in their country.

After all how much does it cost to sew a nose mask?

Your excellency I kindly urge you to do something about this.

Because nose masks should be free if not it should not cost more than 30 peswas per piece.

In short prices of nose masks should be controlled.

If this is done no one will have the excuse not to wear a mask when leaving home.

And it will go a long way to stop the spread of this dangerous virus which has killed millions of people already.

Thank you

What is she wearing as face mask? Will that help?

01/05/2020

Be careful
Prolonged use of the mask produces hypoxia.

Breathing over and over exhaled air turns into carbon dioxide, which is why we feel dizzy.

This intoxicates the user and much more when he must move, carry out displacement actions.

It causes discomfort, loss of reflexes and conscious thought.

It generates great fatigue.

In addition, oxygen deficiency causes glucose breakdown and endangered lactic acid rise.

Some people drive their car with the mask on, that is very dangerous, because, the stale air can make the driver lose consciousness.

It is recommended to use it only if you have someone in front or very close, and it is important to remember to lift it every 10 minutes to continue feeling healthy.

It is counterproductive for people who serve the public for 8 hours, as they are intoxicating themselves without knowing it.

All lives are important.! "
That prevention does not lead you to another problem ... let's use the mask knowingly.

Nana Afia Serwah Bonsu writes.

What is testicular Cancer?

Cancer of the testicle is 1 of the less common cancers, and tends to mostly affect men between 15yrs and 49 years of age.

Typical symptoms are painless swelling or lump in 1 of the testicles, or any change in shape or texture of the testicles.

It's important to be aware of what feels normal for you. Get to know your body and see a doctor if you notice any changes.

The swelling or lump can be about the size of a pea, but may be larger.

Most lumps or swellings in the sc***um are not in the testicle and are not a sign of cancer, but they should never be ignored.

Testicular cancer can also cause other symptoms, including:

• an increase in the firmness of a testicle

• a difference in apperance between 1 testicle and the other

• a dull ache or sharp pain in your testicles or sc***um, which may come and go

• a feeling of heaviness in your sc***um

Only a very small minority of scrotal lumps or swellings are cancerous.

For example, swollen blood vessels (varicoceles) and cysts in the tubes around the testicle (epididymal cysts) are common causes of testicular lumps.

If you do have testicular cancer, the sooner treatment begins, the greater the likelihood that you'll be completely cured.
