⏰🧭 _*CURBING THE SLOW PACE OF DEVELOPMENT IN THE AMANSIE CENTRAL DISTRICT*_ 🧭⏰
Leadership is the fulcrum, around which the attainment of the collective aspirations of a group of people revolve. There is really no *'good'* or *'bad'* leader per se, but the aspirations, behaviour, intelligence, nature, and insight of the *followers* dictate how leaders should govern. Therefore, when one sees *any leader*, he can tell the *nature of his followers*. Hence, the saying, "A *leader* is as good as his *followers*".
By nature, humans, including leaders, are lazy, and will require a *demanding followership* to put them on their toes.
In my candid opinion, the *slow pace of development in Amansie Central* is partly because *followers/indigens* are not demanding enough. In my few years as an Assembly Member, I've observed generally that our people are;
1. Not well informed
2. Poorly educated
3. Unaware of most Central government policies and programs
4. Ignorant about the duties of various leaders in the District / Constituency
5. Not ambitious of development enough
6. Unaware of numerous opportunities available for grab, either on their own, or through their local government authorities.
Due to the above unfortunate issues, *indigens* in the District seem to *settle for less*, ignore or let go many precious opportunities, perceives few duties performed by leaders in the District as a 'kind gesture'.
Unfortunately, leadership seem to have capitalized on this state of oblivion or 'ignorance' of the people, to shortchange the inhabitants in the District, a phenomenon, which has *impoverished* the people of *Amansie Central*, and has re****ed it's growth as well.
It is therefore incumbent on us as leaders (including Assembly Members) to *educate, enlighten, and sensitize our people* on their rights, responsibilities, available opportunities (and how to access them).
When they're this awaken, they shall in turn, push leaders to *up their game*. It's *our duties as leaders* to give the people this *needed enlightenment*, and when we are no longer leaders, we will sit back and enjoy how our *future leaders* are being supported and held accountable by *discerning followers*. It shall be for our own good and for posterity to judge us right
In addition, leadership within the District have not utilized opportunities to take up other duties at the *Regional and National levels*, and tend to be restricted to 'duties' within the district, which by some reasons, don't get well performed either.
When District/Constituency level leaders (whether party or government) take up roles at the Regional or National levels, it presents the District with other huge opportunities that propel our growth, and as well, give opportunity to fresh
minds to also contribute their quota.
It is therefore imperative for leaders to prepare, nurture, and give opportunity to a pool of dedicated young leaders to carry the mantle, when they are no longer in office. That's a more developmatalist approach to governance to ensure continuity of growth.
I therefore make the following recommendations;
1. Leaders including Assembly Members should endeavour to enlighten their people on their rights, responsibilities, and make them aware of the various opportunities available for grab and how to access them
2. Let us also educate them on the duties of the Local Government authorities, and how best they could hold us accountable
3. Leadership should prioritise raising a more enlightened generation that would put the necessary constructive pressure on leadership to up their game in the district
4. Anybody who has the zeal, knowledge, and commitment to run for any office should be encouraged to do so, and bring his ideas on board to propel the growth of the district. *Politics and governance thrive on competition*. Without competition, *complacency* is the only alternative.
5. Leaders who get the opportunity to serve at the District level should endeavour to take up other duties at the Regional or National level to further enhance our prospects of development as a district.
With this, we shall look back one day, and say to ourselves, "We served diligently".
Thank you
