So my team keeps chasing me for pictures with our recent award by the . MMALABSMMALABS is considered the Emerging Diagnostic Center of the year.
They believe I deserve praises from the story of our history; they have to know now. They believe MMALABS have come far to get ourselves out there with full force.
But many who have associated with me know I am not a fan of show-offs. I am keen on the business, and in the past, I was clear I needed no unnecessary attention.
So I have stayed in my corner, doing what I love best - waking up early in the morning and participating in every aspect of MMALABS, and leaving last. Even to write this post, I have to be prompted. You can imagine!!
I rarely take pictures, and this has affected the business as well. Personally and as a business, we have not participated in any award scheme, and in all instances where we were called upon, I would wash it down by admitting I wanted no unnecessary attention.
Unfortunately for me, MMALABS has grown, and the new guys (the Gen Z) will not agree with me now. They insist we participate and go for whatever is rightfully ours.
This reality as a founder and leader has prompted me about the need to allow our business to grow. I have always said that in today's business environment, if you let the business outgrow you as an entrepreneur, some serious staff and positive people you have employed may push you out.
Sometimes as entrepreneurs, we want to have our way by micromanaging, and this leadership process will only starve the growth, and without focus, the best talents may depart you.
I am fortunate to say I have been one of the luckiest entrepreneurs in Ghana. Amidst the many negative stories about employees in Ghana - stealing, laziness, corruption, etc., I can proudly say my employees have treated me well. They have been hardworking and gone all out for the business. From my first employee to the 34th that I have engaged, I can only appreciate and say thank you for not dragging MMALABS to the media on negative grounds.
I believe MMALABS have come far, and we could only be recognized for this award because last year we decided to go out a little bit. For the first time, we participated in industry events and sponsored some industry programs.
Going forward, and as my team has made me aware, we are no more going to stay indoors. We have to face the challenges that come with publicity and eat from its rewards.
MMALABS has come to stay, and as one of the few indigenous and well-doing diagnostic companies, we are keen to partnering and collaborating with individuals, companies, and government agencies for the growth of our economy, contribute our quota in helping address the issue of unemployment, and make a significant impact on health in Ghana and the sub-region.
Thank you Team MMALABS. Congratulations to us all!!!
