World Diabetes Day Celebration at Kwahu Ekawso — A Story of Care, Support & Community Engagement

As part of this year’s World Diabetes Day, the Holy Family Catholic Hospital team journeyed to Kwahu Ekawso to share in a mission close to our hearts:
BRINGING QUALITY HEALTHCARE TO THE DOORSTEP OF EVERY COMMUNITY MEMBER

Our Activities Included:

Diabetes Screening (DM Screening)
We carried out free blood glucose checks to help community members know their status and understand their risk levels. Early detection saves lives, and we were grateful for the large turnout.

Health Education
Our clinicians and educators led interactive sessions on diabetes prevention, healthy eating, physical activity, and the importance of regular medical reviews. The discussions were lively, with many questions and shared experiences.

Home Visits to Defaulting Clients
We visited clients who had defaulted on clinic appointments, offering them guidance, support, and renewed encouragement to stay on their treatment plans. These personal interactions reminded us of the importance of community follow-up and empathy.

Blood Pressure (BP) Profile Checks
Hypertension and diabetes often go hand in hand, so our team checked blood pressure for adults of all ages, helping them understand their readings and next steps.

Random Blood Sugar (RBS) Testing
We also offered quick RBS checks for those who needed immediate glucose assessments, ensuring everyone received proper counseling based on their results.

The Ekawso outreach was a beautiful reminder that healthcare is not just about treatment—it’s about connection, education, and shared responsibility. We are proud to stand with the Kwahu community as we continue to fight diabetes through awareness, prevention, and compassionate care.

Recapping a Week of Partnership & Service

We were absolutely honored to host our new partners, Our Lady of Assumption Stoney Creek from Canada, for an unforgettable five-day visit, concluding today. This partnership is already making a huge difference!

Here’s a quick look at the highlights of their visit:

Generous Donation: The week kicked off with a warm durbar where our Canadian friends officially presented a significant donation of consumables and non-consumable items for our hospital. Some of the items received were donated to our sister facility in Ntronang. These supplies will immediately enhance our ability to care for our patients.

Community Outreach: Our teams hit the ground running, partnering for a successful community outreach at Kwahu Asona, bringing vital health services directly to residents.

Cultural Exchange: We were delighted to share the beauty of the Kwahu enclave, taking our partners on a tour of local treasures like the Stone Age Park and Tafo Waterfalls.

School Health Initiative: Later in the week, we focused on the next generation with school health activities at Odumase RC, Nkawkaw, and Asubone Rails RC, ensuring our students are healthy and ready to learn.

The goal of this visit is to build a strong, lasting partnership, and we are so proud of the bond we’ve formed. We look forward to many more collaborations to enhance healthcare services for our entire community.

Safe travels back to Stoney Creek, Canada! We can't wait to welcome you again soon.

We say thank you and AYEKOOOOO!!!!!!!

🧠🌍 World Mental Health Day Celebration 2025

This year, in honor of World Mental Health Day, we’ve taken a bold step forward by focusing on school and institutional mental health—because building a healthier future starts with supporting our students, educators, and learning communities.
Through targeted outreach, wellness workshops, and open conversations, we've been working hand-in-hand with schools and institutions to raise awareness, break stigmas, and provide tools that support emotional well-being at every level.
Because mental health matters at every age, in every classroom, and in every community.
Let's continue to create safe spaces where minds can thrive. 💚
