World Diabetes Day Celebration at Kwahu Ekawso — A Story of Care, Support & Community Engagement
As part of this year’s World Diabetes Day, the Holy Family Catholic Hospital team journeyed to Kwahu Ekawso to share in a mission close to our hearts:
BRINGING QUALITY HEALTHCARE TO THE DOORSTEP OF EVERY COMMUNITY MEMBER
Our Activities Included:
Diabetes Screening (DM Screening)
We carried out free blood glucose checks to help community members know their status and understand their risk levels. Early detection saves lives, and we were grateful for the large turnout.
Health Education
Our clinicians and educators led interactive sessions on diabetes prevention, healthy eating, physical activity, and the importance of regular medical reviews. The discussions were lively, with many questions and shared experiences.
Home Visits to Defaulting Clients
We visited clients who had defaulted on clinic appointments, offering them guidance, support, and renewed encouragement to stay on their treatment plans. These personal interactions reminded us of the importance of community follow-up and empathy.
Blood Pressure (BP) Profile Checks
Hypertension and diabetes often go hand in hand, so our team checked blood pressure for adults of all ages, helping them understand their readings and next steps.
Random Blood Sugar (RBS) Testing
We also offered quick RBS checks for those who needed immediate glucose assessments, ensuring everyone received proper counseling based on their results.
The Ekawso outreach was a beautiful reminder that healthcare is not just about treatment—it’s about connection, education, and shared responsibility. We are proud to stand with the Kwahu community as we continue to fight diabetes through awareness, prevention, and compassionate care.
