To National service persons:
Dear all, it’s that time of the year where you become overly confused as to what step next. Let me share my experience with you maybe it will inspire you.
Growing up I had ever wished to work with this “Authority” because my dad had an encounter with them as a manufacturer and I was sad with the outcome. I told my dad that one day, I will work with this “Authority” not to revenge but to understand the regulatory processes well to explain to my dad why such decision/ sanction was taken.
Fast forward I completed University and was posted to a different institution which I had to work my way out to do my service with this “Authority “. During my 1 year mandatory service, I gave out my best and learned as much as I could in my capacity as service person.
At the end of the service, 4 out of the 12 personnel were asked to come around to help (with no allowance) which I gladly did. After 6 months, I wasn’t getting funds to transport myself to work anymore so I told my then Regional head I would stay away from work and start a show with a TV station in the Region.
After a year, a had a call: my Regional Head who has moved to head a different Region was calling me to make my application document ready for an interview which will be held for some limited vacancy and today here I Am!
Thanks to My Boss, I’m forever grateful.
To NSP: Your service is being noticed , there might not be an opportunity available at the time you’re expecting it but you will be remembered when the opportunity comes.
Don’t join the crowd to act the way you like in your place of service, some may have the links and opportunities awaiting. Work diligently and pray for success.
All the best!
