In a tragic incident at Shama Junction, a 60-year-old woman named Comfort Baidoo was killed after being struck by an unregistered Honda Civic.

According to witnesses, the Honda Civic was attempting to bypass heavy traffic when it collided with a taxi, causing the driver to lose control. The car then veered onto the walkway, hitting Ms. Baidoo and dragging her into a nearby food stand.

Witnesses noted that her left leg was severely crushed and she was trapped underneath the vehicle. After people at the scene managed to lift the car and free her, she was taken to VRA Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The driver and the vehicle have been taken into police custody as an investigation is underway.

A single case of Mpox has been confirmed in the Akontombra District of Ghana's Western North Region.

The confirmation came after one person out of seven showing symptoms tested positive for the virus. In response, health officials are taking steps to prevent further spread, including educating the public, increasing surveillance, and isolating cases when needed.

Local authorities are urging residents to practice good hygiene, avoid close physical contact, and report any potential cases immediately.

State funeral for the people who died in the helicopter crash is scheduled for today.

The government has outlined a three-part state funeral, which will be a military service led by the Ghana Armed Forces.

According to Deputy Chief of Staff Stan Dogbey, the ceremony will include pre-burial services with tributes and Quran recitations from 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM.

The main funeral and burial service will begin at 9:00 AM, following the arrival of the Vice President and President.
