Once again another year is almost at an end and as we prepare to say our goodbyes to the departing 2019, let's take a moment to render unqualified thanks to the creator for seeing us through a turbulent year. Yes, the world has become increasingly unpredictable with dictatorship, tyranny and authoritarianism rearing their ugly heads and "strong" men once again flexing their muscles. Democratic gains are being slowly eroded and with it the lost of hope for a brighter future. Climate change has hasn't scared us enough to compel a radical transformation of how we live our lives....our boundless disregard for the environment.....and unbridled lust for materialism. As we march inexorably into 2020, let's be mindful of our responsibilities towards the poor and marginalized and our tired and hobbled environment. Zaa Radio will as always do its best to inform, educate and entertain our legion of listeners without whose patronage our station won't be where it is....atop the morthern radio ecosystem..Thank you listeners and may the New Year be bountiful and prosperous.

It has been quite a long time since I interacted with Zaa radio listeners who visit our website. Let me attribute my tardiness to the usual stuff --- too much work. But nonetheless, here I am renewing acquaintance with the folks who make our station throb. The station will soon move into its new premises situated near Gariba Lodge. It is a massive structure and will house the radio station and a new addition, a television studio. From our crispy clean environment, we will continue to educate, inform and entertain the residents of Tamale and its surrounding towns and villages.

Zaa radio listeners are indispensable to the overall financial stability of the station. Thus, management and staff will continue to cherish the patronage of these loyal listeners and work around the clock to bring them the best in news and entertainment.

We at the station are working hard and doing our best to bring you the latest in local, national and international news as well as the happenings in sports and entertainment. Stay tuned. Zaa radio has been my home for the last six years as a writer and commentator. Even though I work from across the Atlantic Ocean, in the United States to be precise, I feel a strong kinship, a deep, emotional and physical attachment to Zaa's loyal listeners who take time out of their busy schedules to tune in every day. Their loyalty is the source of Zaa radio's strength and persistence; my colleagues and I promise to continue to work hard each and everyday to bring our fantastic listeners, the best in news, entertainment, sports and political commentary. Thanks a gazillion, once again, dear listeners for making us the NUMBER RADIO STATION in the north.

For the umpteenth time, communal violence in the northern region erupted in a far flung, remotely situated community outside Yendi, Nakapchie, to be precise.

The violence claimed the life of the community's imam, injured several others including a 3-year-old girl currently battling for her life at Yendi hospital and sent hundreds of Nakapchie residents scurrying to Yendi to avoid the terror that had been unleashed.

Unfortunate and tragic. But thankfully, a much larger confrontation was averted. And for that we should express our gratitude to the Overlord of Dagbon, security agencies(army and police), the regional minister, traditional and religious leaders and civil society organizations.

At this moment of anger and raw emotions, it will certainly be absurd to apportion blame. No one group is responsible for the mayhem. Diplomacy should be allowed to work its magic. In fact, it will be the height of irresponsibility to point an accusing finger at one group and portray it as the antagonist.

Instead, the emphasis should be on peace building among the diverse groups of tribes in the region. Much is at stake here, first and foremost, the region's integrity and good name. Northerners are not a bunch of violence prone humanoids.....they crave to live in harmony, too.
