CELEBRATING 5 YEARS OF THE UPNMG LOAN SCHEME

Today marks a remarkable milestone in the journey of the Union of Professional Nurses and Midwives, Ghana (UPNMG).

Five years ago, UPNMG took a bold step to solve one of the major challenges facing nurses and midwives in Ghana: access to flexible, affordable, and member-centered financial support.

The dream was simple, to create a loan system that truly understands the needs of healthcare professionals and today, that vision has grown into one of the most dependable financial interventions for members.

🌟 Achievements Over the Past 5 Years

1. Thousands of members supported with soft loans, school fees loans, and welfare interventions.
2. Introduction of the guarantor system to minimise defaulter rates
3. Low-interest rates compared to mainstream financial institutions.
4. Fast processing and digital application channels, reducing delays and paperwork.
5. Continuous reinvestment into member welfare, strengthening the union’s.

The success of the loan scheme demonstrates what a united professional body can achieve when it prioritizes the needs of its members.

Happy 5th Anniversary to the UPNMG Loan Scheme!
Here’s to many more years of growth, support, and empowerment. 🎉💙

UPNMG Donates Brand New Laptop to GUNMA

The Union of Professional Nurses and Midwives, Ghana (UPNMG), has reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare and professional development of Ghanaian nurses and midwives through the donation of a brand-new laptop to the Graduate Unemployed Nurses and Midwives Association (GUNMA).

The presentation, which took place today, 14th November 2025, forms part of UPNMG’s broader efforts to support key stakeholder groups within the nursing and midwifery profession. We deeply appreciate the pivotal role GUNMA continues to play in advocating for the posting of unemployed nurses and midwives across the country. This donation is intended to strengthen the associations capacity as it continues this important work.

Leadership wants to emphasize its unwavering commitment to supporting GUNMA and other allied groups until the long-standing challenge of unemployment among qualified nurses and midwives is permanently resolved.

We also want to reassure the unpaid members who are eagerly awaiting the payment of their salaries in November that active efforts are underway behind the scenes and we are 90% sure that it will be resolved.

We remain committed to promoting unity, professional development, and improved working conditions for all nurses and midwives in Ghana.
