*MENSTRUAL CYCLE AND GUARANTEED DAYS*
Most women don't understand this because of the medical terminology used. So here's a simple explanation and some steps…
MENSTRUAL PERIOD: The time it takes for blood to flow from your va**na during your period.
MENSTRUAL CYCLE: The number of days it takes for menstruation to occur again within a month. If your last period started on July 11th and resumed on August 10th, 2025, your cycle is 30 days (from July 11th to August 10th).
NOTE: It's a misconception that the cycle is 28 days. Every woman has different cycles, ranging from 21 to 35 days. Therefore, it's important to know the length of your cycle. This duration is subject to change.
OVULATION PERIOD: This is the time when an egg is released from the ovaries into the uterus, and it's also the time to conceive without stress. This refers to the two weeks following your period or the two weeks before your next period.
Here's a simple method to calculate your ovulation period (fertile window).
1. Start from the first day you see your period.
2. Take a calendar and count 15 days, including the first day of spotting.
3. Mark the 15th day with a pen.
4. Mark three days before the 15th day and three days after the 15th day.
6. You'll notice you've marked seven days. These seven days are your ovulation/fertile days, also known as your fertile window. They are from the 12th to the 18th day after your period.
If you have s*x on one of these days, you have a 98% chance of becoming pregnant.
If you have a 28-day cycle, your most fertile days are the 13th, 14th, and 15th days after your period. Some of you are not infertile, but simply have s*x on the wrong days.
7. Repeat this step diligently each month: meet with your partner on your most fertile days.
EVERY OTHER DAY IS YOUR SURE DAY.
For example:
Remember that you have marked the 7 days above as your fertile days, so the others are your safe days.
1. If your period starts on July 11, 2025,
2. 15 days after the first day of spotting will correspond to July 25 of that same month (2 weeks later), counting from the 11th.
3. The 15th day corresponds to July 25, 2025.
4. 3 days before the 15th day correspond to the 22nd, 23rd, and 24th.
5. 3 days after July 25, 2025, correspond to the 26th, 27th, and 28th.
6. From March 22nd to 28th (7 days), you ovulate. This is your fertile window.
Remember that these 7 days are a reminder that s***m can remain in the female body for approximately 7 days. Any s*xual contact between ovulation periods can result in pregnancy.
8. By subtracting your fertile days, your safe days extend from the first day of your period to the 11th day after. However, I advise you to finish on the 10th for added security. The safe days before ovulation are not very reliable, as you don't know exactly when you will ovulate or how long s***m will remain in your body.
Another very reliable safe period is from the 18th day after your period until your next period. These are the days following your ovulation period.
REMEMBER THAT NO CONTRACEPTIVE IS 100% EFFECTIVE, WHETHER IT'S HORMONAL, NATURAL, OR BARRIER METHODS. YOUR CHANCES OF GETTING PREGNANT ARE ALWAYS MINIMAL.
MAJOR SIGNS THAT YOUR OVULATION HAS BEGUN...
You don't need to see a doctor to know that you are ovulating and are in your fertile window. From day 12 to day 18 after your period, you may experience the following symptoms:
1. Headache.
2. Fever.
3. Dizziness (feeling tired and sleepy).
4. Breast tenderness/swelling, similar to menstruation.
5. Increased libido.
6. Mild cramps or pain on one side of your pelvis.
7. Abdominal bloating.
8. Heightened sense of smell, taste, or sight (you eat more).
9. Vaginal mucus becomes slippery (if you notice this, put it between your fingers... it stretches like thick catarrh or snail slime... colorless like egg white).
NOTE: The 15-day count here applies to women with a 30-day cycle and someone who had their period in July 2025. If your period is 28 days, then it's 14 days, not 15. Fertile days are therefore from day 11 to day 17 after your period; the other days are safe.
If you have headaches without a known cause, think back to the beginning of your period. You could be ovulating. Don't rush to the pharmacy to buy painkillers, especially for problems that can be treated naturally, as medications aren't always effective and have many side effects.
