Although we are not a hospital, we do provide some accommodation for those patients who come from afar and need to stay with us for training after their fittings. We always advise patients to come for a consultation first before any service or support is provided.

🦿 What Causes Amputation?
Amputation is a serious medical procedure—usually a last resort—used to save a patient’s life or stop the spread of disease. Knowing the causes can help in prevention and early treatment.

🔹 Common Causes Include:

*A wound that won’t heal due to poor blood flow

*Cancerous tumors in the limb

*Gangrene (dead tissue from infection or lack of blood)

*Diabetes complications

*Severe traumatic injuries (accidents, crush injuries)

*Serious infections

*Frostbite

*Congenital conditions (present at birth)

👉 Regular medical checkups, especially for those with diabetes or circulation problems, are key in preventing complications that can lead to amputation.

Your health is in your hands—stay informed, stay proactive. 💪

🚨 Why Are So Many Amputations Happening in Ghana? 🚨

The two main causes of amputation today are:

1️⃣ Road Traffic Accidents – Many of these are preventable. Carelessness and a lack of road safety are costing lives and limbs.

2️⃣ Diabetes – This condition, caused by high blood sugar levels, slows down wound healing and often leads to serious infections. When untreated, it can result in the need for amputation.

Too many of us still need to learn how to eat better and live healthier. And we must all be more responsible on our roads.

Let’s protect ourselves and each other. 💚

“I used to drive long distances—until a violent altercation left me paralyzed. I was rushed to Walewale Municipal Hospital for an X-ray and referred to Orthopedic Training Center (Walewale) for further treatment. Even though it was a holiday, I reached out to the doctor directly, and he agreed to see me the next day. Thanks to the dedicated team at OTC, I went through successful rehabilitation and today—I’m walking and driving again. I can’t wait to attend my upcoming review to show the doctor how far I’ve come!”
– Mr. Salifu Mohammed

Restoring Hope, One Step at a Time❤️🤞

As a rehabilitation centre for the physically challenged, we work closely with surgeons from The Netherlands who perform life-changing surgeries at Akwatia, Duayaw Nkwanta, and Dzodze.

These surgeries help prepare our patients for braces, calipers, or prosthetic limbs—ensuring the best fit and function. We also refer patients for corrective procedures when needed.

Below is the transformation of one of our amazing young patients—before and after surgery. This is the impact we strive for every day. 💙
