CIEH Foundation Certificate in Food Allergen Awareness (Level 2)

Food that might be perfectly safe for one person to eat may also be harmful to another, resulting in allergic reactions that can range from mild to life-threatening.

It is therefore vitally important that everyone responsible for preparing or handling food is fully aware of what could trigger an allergic reaction, and understands the precautions that need to be taken.

Awareness of allergens will not only help to ensure the safety of those consuming food, but also that government regulations are being adhered to. In addition to the danger to public health, there are large fines in place for non-compliance, alongside the risk to the success and reputation of your business.

CIEH (Level 2) Foundation Certificate in Food Allergen Awareness will teach learners about the foods that commonly trigger allergic reactions and the vital information that needs to be communicated to consumers. It will also cover the legal responsibilities of allergen labelling and allergen declaration which will enable learners to comply with their duties under the EU General Food Law Regulation No.178/2002, the Food Information Regulations 2014 and the Food Safety Act 1990.

The course includes a suite of in-depth training materials, including slides, activity sheets, textbooks and test sheets.

Lunch on this one-day course is included.

It is scheduled to be delivered as a day course on Thursday 10th May between 8.45am to 4pm. Please note; this course has been subsidized by the GFSB for our members.

The CIEH Foundation Certificate in Food Safety is for anyone working in a food business. Everyone who works in the food industry, whether in catering, manufacturing or retail, is responsible for safeguarding the health of anyone who consumes food that has been prepared, processed, stored or sold by their food business. Food handlers have a special responsibility for safeguarding the health of consumers and to ensure that the food they serve or sell is safe to eat.

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to prepare and cook food that is safe for consumption.

This course builds on the Introductory Certificate in Food Safety training course and provides effective, efficient and comprehensive food safety training for all types of food business. This course covers the minimum industry standards for processes and procedures expected of any food handler.

The content reinforces the importance of food safety and provides learners with an understanding of how to identify and control food safety hazards in their own workplace.

Airport Fire and Rescue Service Members Achieve Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) Qualifications
(extract of Government Press Release)

Two members of the Airport Fire and Rescue Service successfully completed a course on Managing Safely which is accredited by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), The course was organised by Training Packages Gibraltar in association with the Safety Management Bureau Ltd.

As firefighters this course is most relevant serving to safely manage risks both operationally and in their daily work environment whilst also creating awareness of every individuals’ responsibilities and accountability for their actions.

This course gives managers and supervisors the underpinning knowledge and additional skills they need to manage health and safety within their teams enabling them to better identify and assess potential hazards, putting measures in place to safeguard everyone’s well-being.

Leading Firefighters Tyronne Avellano and Shane MacDonald received their certificates from Mr Charles Zammit Director of Training Packages Gibraltar.

Attendees after completing the MANAGING SAFELY course of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health run by TRAINING PACKAGES GIBRALTAR recently at Bleak House. Representatives from Aquagib; Elderly Care Services (Mount Alvernia); Giboil; Fire & Rescue Service - Gibraltar International Airport; Care Agency (St Bernadette's Resource Centre and Adult Services Day Centre); Gibraltar Health Authority and Fairhomes Ltd were successful in attaining this important qualification. The course was delivered by Sally Robinson,a Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH) and a member of the Occupational Safety and Health Consultants Register OSHCR

CIEH Intermediate Certificates in Food Safety were recently presented by Charles Zammit of Training Packages Gibraltar to the Fresh Foods Manager and four departmental managers at Eroski Center supermarket. This followed three courses for all the staff working at the fresh foods departments who gained the CIEH Foundation Certificate in Food Safety. Our congratulations to all!
