Sri Tirumalai Krishnamacharya (18/11/1888 to 28/02/1989)
Remarkable scholar, yogi, teacher and healer. Considered by many as the father of modern yoga. Volumes have been written about him and his main students that have influenced in many ways most yoga classes in the world today.
He was born 137 years ago today. Judging by what is written about him his main contribution was in the realms of Asana practice. In my opinion after almost 3 decades of studying and practicing yoga is that he was able to create a wonderful congruence between the many aspects of yoga practice grounded in a deep tradition and extensive knowledge.

Pic 2 Sacred Balinese mask - a precious gift from a friend - this particular one traps non-physical entities that resonate at lower frequencies than our house. Every time I come back to Figueira I release them into the light, so they can continue their path elsewhere.

Pic 3 Sagrado coração - in previous generations it would pass from house to house in the village, blessing each family for some time before moving on to the next. Left forgotten for decades it has found a place of appreciation once again.

There is a difference in between doing a beginner asana in a advanced way and doing a advanced asana in a beginner way.

When developing our practice it is good not to confuse the two.

In this picture I am doing this asana in a beginner way, I remember my breath was short and I was simply keeping a steady flow with throat control, giving priority to staying sable and being able to progressing into and out of the asana smoothly (as in without hurting myself 🤣).
