🌿 Enhancing Health through Collaboration: Our Pharmacy with the Department of Pharmacognosy at the University of Athens, Professor Prokopios Magiatis, and Ms. Eleni Meliou 🌿

We are thrilled to announce our collaboration with the distinguished Professor of Pharmacognosy at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Prokopios Magiatis, and his esteemed colleague, Ms. Eleni Meliou.

Professor Magiatis holds both a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Pharmacognosy, and is recognized globally for his innovative research on high-phenolic olive oil. His accolades include numerous awards that highlight his pioneering contributions in the field.

Ms. Eleni Meliou, also holding a Ph.D., has made significant strides in the chemistry of natural products. Her research focuses on isolating bioactive compounds from olive and bee products, with over 50 publications to her name.

Our Story

The Olive Tree Pharmacy is a small independent pharmacy store founded by pharmacist Efrosini Rizou about 50 years ago, in 1969. It started by providing pharmaceutical care and innovative skin care products which with the advancement of technology and knowledge were constantly evolving. For two generations, our family remained united by a driving purpose: to keep our caring family culture, to look after our customers and to be different through innovation. Over the years, we’ve created partnerships that helped us grow stronger and meet the needs of our valued customers with even more loyalty.

Even from the 70s, we are using herbal ingredients from the Greek nature to create therapeutic, rejuvenating and moisturizing face creams. The Greek Organic Olive Oil due to its exceptional scientifically proven properties inspired us to create new products and introduce its active ingredients in almost all of our products.

We are currently developing products based on olive oil and extracts of medical herbs from the amazing biodiversity of Cretan nature and we look forward to introduce you to the wealth of Greek Cretan flora, as well as to the properties of the “liquid gold”, the Olive oil, that we are very proud of. Our aim is to combine high technology and scientific knowledge with the Greek nature and especially with the olive fruit which is a landmark and a valuable gift of the Greek nature.

We will be happy to assist you in our physical store, which is located in the traditional village of Elos, 60km south west of Chania town on your road to one of the most famous beaches of the world, Elafonisi. We cover a wide range of pharmaceutical products and food supplements for every need as well as a variety of olive based skin and hair care natural products, handmade soaps and much more.
