Meet Professor Vijay Kunadian, the first female Professor of Interventional Cardiology in the UK. Growing up surrounded by brothers, she learned to navigate the male-dominated world of medicine.

“As the only girl in the family you learn how to handle yourself in a male world. But I see the challenges women face and how easily they could be put off."

Professor Kunadian believes that women bring important skills and perspectives to medicine, enhancing patient care and driving meaningful research.

“We need to support younger female colleagues in cardiology, and I want to be a role model for them. My message is work hard and get support from the right people and you will thrive.”

As a mentor, she aims to inspire and support younger female colleagues, urging them to work hard and seek guidance from the right mentors.
