The world has changed.
I stop during my walk to feel, smell and see. People who are me, who do what I do, or did what I did. Cars pass that use to be mine, I smile and wave. I remember that pinto, with the broken ac, no escape from Central Valley heat waves, but we found a way. We always found a way, we always survived. We grow stronger, richer, quicker and our self doubt seems to double in size, poor, young and dumb creates innovation and unstoppable possibilities. Pregnant bellies just like mine and baby sounds just like our daughters in a world that seems like it won't turn around, will there be a tomorrow? the best elixir was ignorance and it's even better when you have no idea how ignorant you really are, if someone even suggests it insulted you are, it's like the best Epsom salt bath, so warm, soothing and detoxifying! The roosters c**k a doodle doo in the first sign of dawn, Mother Earth is fragrant as She was when I was 9...a train whistles in the distance I close my eyes and feel it's resistance, but I know it can't stop so easily. My cat hugs me and I hold her paws in mine... I remember how we are not so different although she is more forgiving then I. She will teach me her ways as I break down and cry. It's not the world that's changed.
