I have been practicing Hawaiian lomi lomi or kahuna massage for about 9 months now. A few months ago, a friend of mine from London told me that she just had a lomi lomi massage from a man called Dan Joy and that it was one of the best massages in her life. She was raving about Dan's admirable caring attitude, full presence, unusually soothing touch, all of which provided for a very deep experience for her. She said that Dan will teach his approach to lomi lomi in a 1-week retreat in the Greek island Corfu in September. I knew I had to attend, I wanted to learn from Dan.

Dan's retreat was transformational for me in many ways! Not only did I have the opportunity to experience a taste of Dan's lomi lomi on myself, practice mutually with other participants, experience 4-handed and 6-handed massage. The retreat was much more than about lomi lomi. It was about the conscious inner connection with ourselves, conscious connection with others, with the essence of life. It was about how to be present and give the most caring attention to another person, how to use our hands in a loving and healing way. Dan taught me how to slow down in the massage strokes and slow down even more, to 'be' rather than to 'do'.

Dan often has tears in his eyes when he explains or when he massages. That's one more evidence of him being deeply connected with doing what he loves, with his mission much bigger than himself, to spread this present, conscious way of connecting, in the world. In the world that, in my opinion, now needs it more than ever. That's why I want to offer my conscious touch to those whom it can nourish, possibly heal or transform.
I got very much inspired from Dan and created for my clients a slow conscious massage with carefully selected music inspired by Dan's playlists. I decided to call it Massage Hará, to honour Dan's teachings, with Dan's permission. Χαρά means 'joy' in Greek and Dan's last name is Joy.

Thank you for everything you taught me, Dan Joy ! I will always think of you when I need to slow down and be more present and just be ❣️🙏

The full Kahuna Massage & Bodywork session can take up to 3 hours. Depending on what is the best for you in that given moment, we begin with a short consultation, followed eventually by a powerful guided meditation and an exercise or practice for self-esteem, forgiveness, gratitude which you then can practice on your own, and some shamanic ritual like feet washing in epsom salt bath with essential oil. The massage itself takes about 1,5 - 2 hours and can be eventually done on its own if you don't have more time.

The massage and bodywork session on its own can be a profound, relaxing, nurturing experience. And what creates even more lasting impact for some of my clients is the follow up and the coaching support after the session. We have a 30 - 60 minutes coaching call 2 or 3 days after the bodywork session to help you get more clarity on the next steps in life, career or relationships. I also hold you accountable daily for applying and practicing an exercise you have learnt during the session if you wish so.

In June I offer complimentary 1 week coaching after each bodywork session.

Feel free to share this post with those you think could have the most benefit from this offer. You can find more information on my website in English and in Greek www.holiscoach.com/kahuna

When was the last time you had a MASSAGE? As we are now gradually recovering from the long months of no physical contact, I want to offer a conscious, healing and nurturing touch through the Hawaiian lomi lomi (kahuna temple bodywork) that has already provided so many amazing, surprising results for my clients.
Scientific studies showed that after a few weeks without physical touch, the level of the happiness hormone serotonin decreases and the level of the stress hormone cortisol increases. The body is then in a constant fight-or-flight mode. After just 15 minutes of massage, the cortisol goes back down and the serotonin rises back up. Lomi lomi (or kahuna temple bodywork) is so much more than a massage.
I have created a sort of a sacred space where I will help you to let go of what doesn't serve you anymore and to heal what needs to be healed. I will listen to you deeply, with compassion and without judgement. Then I might guide you through a powerful meditation. Then I might do a feet washing ritual (with Himalayan salt) and then I will offer your body a healing, unconditionally loving touch. I will massage all of your body at the same time and your mind might drift off and let go. In the next few days you might feel more and more clarity on your next steps in life and more connected to your body.
In these days of our mental and physical health being in danger, I want to offer this extraordinary healing modality to everyone who can really benefit from it. Until the end of May, you can pay whatever amount you can afford, ending by 3 Euros, which I donate to where I feel it can serve the most.
You can find all details and also what some of my clients say about results for them on http://holiscoach.com/kahuna Don't hesitate to connect with me and benefit from the "pay-as-you-feel" offer while it's still available!

The spiritual aspect of the massage is the practice of 7 principles of the Hawaiian Huna philosophy for life and for healing that I integrate within the session as well as in my life and that I teach my clients:

1. IKE (Awareness) : The world is what you think it is. (“I see clearly through the eyes of a child.”) How powerful the mind is — how it creates and affects our beliefs. I create a safe, healing and non-judgemental space for you where you will feel safe and truly cared for during the entire session.

2. KALA (Freedom) : There are no limits. (“I am free of all ties that bind me to a story that has expired.”) What is it in our mind that limits our full potential?

3. MAKIA (Focus) : Energy flows where attention goes. (“I am here.”) My mind is laser-focused where the touch connects with the body and how the energy flows there. In life, energy is spent wherever it is purposefully directed.

4. MANAWA (Presence) : Now is the moment of power. Kahuna Bodywork is a practice of being present. When I am fully present, the experience is fully mindful. This allows you to be present with my touch and allows you to connect with your own body.

5. ALOHA (Love) : To love is to be happy with. (“My heart space is open.”) The spirit of Aloha is to welcome people with a warm, joyous, loving and friendly attitude — the attitude of acceptance including self-love and self-respect. My aim for you is to feel the Aloha spirit during the whole session.

6. MANA (Power) : All power comes from within. (“I stand strong in my power.”) You are the one who defines your experience. Experience is the internal that manifests the external. The internal force becomes the external reality. Other people have no power over you – other than the one you give them. One energetic form of Mana in a session is circulating energy source that I carry during the session. The therapist generates Mana internally using breath and movements .

7. PONO (Goodness) : Effectiveness is a measure of truth. (“I greet with love the goodness of my spirit.”) This is the practice of alignment. Live life authentically in alignment with your values. In the Kahuna massage session, my breath, movement and mental focus are in alignment.

I have been fascinated by the Hawaiian Huna philosophy and extraordinary approach to life and the almost mystical form of massage known as lomi lomi or kahuna temple bodywork.

Kahuna temple bodywork is by far not just a conventional massage. The body is treated with the utmost respect, as a temple, and the massage is deeply nurturing for the body and soul. The rhythmic strokes over the entire body let you soon switch off your conscious mind and drift into an altered state of mind where the healing and transformation start to happen. It feels like the waves of the ocean flowing over your body, breaking through energetic blocks and cleansing the body’s energy fields. Lomi Lomi is a remedial style of massage that treats your muscular, lymphatic, immune, respiratory, circulatory, nervous, digestive and endocannabinoid (homeostatic) systems. And in addition to all of that, a kahuna massage is a heart opening experience. During the entire time, I am fully conscious and present for you, directing my awareness on each area of your body that I’m in contact with at any given moment.

Even though the traditional kahuna or lomi lomi oil massage is done on a naked body with essential draping, it is important to me that you feel emotionally safe and comfortable at all times and therefore we will always work to your level of comfort and we might choose a massage of legs, arms and face for our first sessions.
