Clearing out some of my Mothers papers I found this certificate given to my mother in March 1933 when she was 7 years old by her dentist… it’s quite impressive at the level of dental education at this time in a welsh practice keeping in mind this was before the establishment of the NHS !

Interesting case where we discovered severly resorbed roots( see photo of their actual appearance after extraction!)on the central incisors on the 79 year old lady, to the new dentist I would thoroughly recommend keeping the natural teeth for the technician to copy the shape( unless you want to improve their shape of course ) , we could not save them and of course we put in two immediate placement implants as she had good well formed bone under these resorbed roots

An 85 year old patient presented with mild pain yesterday at my office and his panoramic revealed this! We are now waiting for his CBCT scan to assess the true extent of this lesion in his lower jaw.
Despite the obvious pathology....I feel its an important lesson to 'why' you should attend the dentist regularly and even more why every 3/4 years we as dentists request a panoramic, this is the second time this year that we discovered quite advanced lesions in patients ...its not financial its an essential diagnostic tool.
