Evolution is an unstopable force!!!
Comments from AAOP members on announcing Orofacial Pain as a recognized specialty by the American Dental Association.
Jeffery Okeson:
WOW, this is wonderful news for our profession and, more importantly, for our patients. I wish I could personally thank each and everyone who had a part of this long and now wonderful journey. There are too many to thank in one email and I would be afraid that I would miss someone. I would like to give a big hug to everyone, but COVID-19 protocol would really be violated. This is one of my best days of 45 years of teaching. It has certainly put a big smile on my face at a time when smiles are hard to come by.
Thank you to everyone.
Gary Heir:
It was 1994 when we met as the first-class taking the ABOP examination. We were the calibration group. The seeds of hope for our field planted by Steve Graff-Radford and Bob Adler, nurtured by Gary Beeler and many others along our path to today’s announcement, have finally borne fruit. After several applications to the ADA, and as many rejections and other challenges to the integrity of the specialty and ABOP, we have arrived at this momentous announcement. Congratulations to all of us who never, not for one moment, gave up!
Tony Schwartz:
Congratulations to all who have worked so hard and devoted so much to see this finally happen!!
Ron Brown:
Congrats! Glad you all have made it into the ADA recognized specialties.
Special congrats to Jim F, and Jeff C for the participation back five/six years ago with the ABDS.
Hallelujah
Matt Lark:
The culmination of many years of dedication toward the recognition of specialty. Historic Day!
Thanks to all who made this day possible. Especially to all of the past presidents and directors of the academy and board and all of you who worked on committees for all of these years. We did it!
Rafael Benoliel:
Heartfelt and well-deserved congratulations to all.
Specialty status is a major "step up" for this wonderful profession we all share a passion for.
Chapeau to all who worked so hard.
