He graduated from Athens Medical School, and subsequently completed his training in General Surgery at Brown University School of Medicine, U.S.A. (Rode Island Hospital). He then completed a "Solid Organ Transplant" fellowship at Miami University (Jackson Memorial Hospital). ring the same period, Dr. Tzimas completed his MSc thesis at McGill University, in experimental surgery, in the field of Hepatobiliary Oncology, exploring the role of proprotein convertases in liver metastases of colorectal origin. Upon return to Greece, Dr. Tzimas established a program of Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Oncology at Hygeia Hospital, the most prestigious private hospital in Athens. During that period he completed his PhD thesis in Experimental Surgery at Athens University, in the field of Surgical Oncology. He currently holds the position of Chief of the Hepatobiliary Service at Hygeia Hospital in Athens, Greece and at Tirana, Albania, performing more than sixty HPB cases per year.
