🌿 1. Bilateral Stimulation Walks
Take a walk where you alternate tapping your hands on your thighs in rhythm with your steps (left-right-left). This mimics the bilateral stimulation used in EMDR and can help calm your nervous system.
🧘‍♀️ 2. Body Scan Meditation with a Safe Place Visualization
Use a guided body scan to reconnect with your body, followed by a few minutes of visualizing your “safe place.” This strengthens that internal resource and helps you ground.
🎧 3. Bilateral Music or Sound Therapy
Listen to bilateral audio tracks (music that alternates between the left and right ear) to support emotional regulation. Make sure to use headphones for the full effect!
🧸 4. Soothing Object Practice
Keep a comforting object nearby (like a soft stone, essential oil roller, or grounding crystal). During moments of distress or being overwhelmed, use it while gently self-tapping or breathing to help self-soothe and reconnect with safety.
✍️ 5. Journaling EMDR Reflections
Write down key insights, body sensations, or emotional shifts. This helps your brain continue to integrate new information and gives you a safe space to reflect on your healing journey.
