Με μεγάλη χαρά ανακοινώνουμε την έναρξη αυτού του κύκλου μαθημάτων CI.
Contact Improvisation is a dance form started in 1972 by the American choreographer Steve Paxton and other dancers. It proposes an improvised dialogue between bodies through touch, focusing on physical elements such as gravity, leverages, momentum, friction, centripetal and centrifugal forces, spirals, among others, that provide many possibilities for exploring and improvising.
In this cycle of 10 classes, we will explore and combine two moments/intentions for each class: one moment to practice movement vocabulary aiming to promote mobility, stretching and stimulating different tissues, lubricating joints and softening tensions, and another moment focusing on researching and deepening a specific principle that is fundamental for this dance form, such as: perceiving weight, managing the gravitational centre, sensing pathways of weight transmission, sensing the skeleton, perceiving and playing with supports, moving and widening our attention, among others.
For this first moment, our main source will be Material for the Spine, a set of principles and movement vocabulary developed by Steve Paxton.
Classes will be in English with translation into Greek whenever is needed.
