On 27th of November, I gave birth to a baby girl Maria. In the last few months, it was a bit challenging to go for walks and run around after my two years old but thanks to my friends I received a lot of support and help. Having spent less than a month with two kids, I realised that before it wasn't difficult.
But everything comes from the mind or perhaps from the external, omnipresent field of consciousness, anyway I realised I can help myself only by changing the story, the wording, the thought patterm in my head.
Today, I had the biggest cramp in my leg which lasted for maybe 10 minutes. Maria was crying in the bedroom and I was in another room. I couldn't really walk but limped somehow towards her. Then I realized, one may think having one kid is hard but having two kids is harder, but when you have physical pain and two kids, this is even harder. I was like my God, having two kids and being in a good health isn't actually hard.
Having two kids and living in a safe place, having running water, food, a warm bed, and a house isn't actually hard at all. These changes in thought patterns help a lot, plus breathing.
The moment I feel, the feeling of inner discomfort is taking over me, I just take a deep breath, shift focus on the sheer pleasure of being able to take a deep, deep breath and then this feeling disappears, melts away instantly.
In fact, I experience so much joy in being able to breathe. Truly, breath is life, breath is energy, breath is health.

In yoga, it is said that each Person has a fixed number of breaths allocated to him. If one breathes slow then one will live longer, for the number of breaths is allocated for the lifetime; if one breathes rapidly the given number of breaths are used up more quickly resulting in a shorter life span. Whether you accept this idea or not, there is nevertheless a great deal of truth in it. A fast breathing rate is associated with tension, fear, worry, etc which tends to lead to bad health, unhappiness and of course a shorter life. A person who breathes slowly is relaxed, calm and happy, which is conductive to longevity.

There are so many benefits for taking a retreat.
You retreat from your usual routines, your daily pace, your work responsibilities.

Jiddu Krishnamurti, a famous spiritual leader and philosopher, explains it clearly: “I think it is essential sometimes to go into retreat, to stop everything that you have been doing, to stop your beliefs and experiences completely and look at them anew, not keep on repeating like machines whether you believe or don’t believe. You would let fresh air into your minds.”

The power of Self Reinvention->

At the age of 18, my heart called me to India. I became literally an Indian for two years.
I learned Hindi, Yoga, Bharatnatyam (traditional Indian dance), cooked Indian food and wore only Saris.

I also restarted learning French at the Alliance française of Bangalore and completed all possible courses in one year.

In 2004, I found myself in London, doing my BA in TEFL & French, doing volunteering work in the school, working part time in the card shop and only looking forward, despite of various hardships.

Having finished my studies and having worked for sometime at the school as a French Teacher Assistant, I realised that I have an acumen and a potential to be Top PA. I believed in it and I became a PA for one of the richest families in the world.

I worked non stop, evenings, weekends, lunches, holidays. By 2017, I realised I need a change. I move to Athens and sign up for a intensive Greek language course, not even imagining that in few years this knowledge will make a huge positive difference to my life!

Then, going back to London, moving to Dubai, going through a personal transformation and deciding to go to India and do my Yoga Teacher training course, learning powerful Breathing techniques, world travel.

At one point, I settled in Bali and worked in the Yoga school before going back to London just before the world pandemic. Pandemic gave me a chance to teach Breathing anti stress, calming techniques Online.

Then,in first week of August, 2020 I decided to travel to Crete for 2 weeks. I haven’t left it since.
I settled, I grounded myself through my work as a Breathing coach, through my Husband and my Son, through the Community, through Cretan land and its energy.

Once more, I had to reinvent myself, start from Zero which helped me to discover new talents, reflect on things in a different way, face new challenges and find solutions.

It helped me to Grow personally and professionally, not only for own benefit but for the benefit of others.

And I still keep the door opened … perhaps new reinventions are waiting for me in the future… I am opened, fearless and positive.

These two elements — an idea in the mind and a physical sensation in the body — are what an emotion truly is, and they can’t really be separated. This is why we call it a feeling — because we feel emotions in our bodies (D Chopra)

Breathing helps us to shift and change that physical sensation which is attached to a certain thought(situation) and release it

I’ve spent years studying happiness – here’s what actually makes for a happier life
Years of academic research on the subject left Christopher Boyce unsure how to be happy himself. A bike ride to Bhutan changed that

It’s one thing to know what makes people happy, but quite another to live a happy life oneself. I didn’t get a true taste of happiness until I quit my decade-long career as a happiness academic, packed all I’d need for many months onto a bicycle, and began meandering my way around the world to Bhutan.

For those unfamiliar with Bhutan, it’s a small Himalayan kingdom, famed for basing all its national policy decisions on happiness.

Quite the destination, quite the journey. And I would learn more about happiness than I did as an academic. That’s not to dismiss knowledge acquired through books and letters. But there’s a lot to be said for actually getting direct experience in life. Below are some of the things I learned along the way.

How to be happy

1. For sustained happiness, go deep
When people talk about happiness, some dismiss it as a viable societal goal because happiness policy can be misconstrued as being about people smiling and laughing all the time.

Yet, pleasant as smiling and laughing are, doing them all the time is neither realistic nor desirable. Difficult emotions are a natural part of life. These days I love a cry – it’s an important release. And anxiety, which I’m prone to, is something I’ll be open and curious about rather than hide from.

The kind of happiness I value is deeper – grounded in connection, purpose and hope, yet has room for sadness and anxiety, too. Indeed, it’s this kind of happiness that a country like Bhutan aspires to, and I think more countries (and people) should, too.

2. Have goals, but prepare to let them go
Goals can be helpful. They give direction in our day-to-day lives. But it’s easy to get wrapped up in attaining an outcome, believing our happiness depends on it.

Rather than being in what psychologists call flow – an immersive, in-the-moment state of being – we might doggedly push on towards a goal. Even though achieving our goals won’t always bring us happiness.

When I was cycling to Bhutan, I let go of the idea of ever reaching Bhutan many times, and through doing so I ensured my journey remained purposeful and enjoyable. And, when I did arrive, beautiful as Bhutan was, exhaustion and homesickness dominated. If we’re not happy along the way, then we ought to question whether it’s worth going at all.

3. Don’t be misled by stories
There are many stories about what a happy life entails, but they’re not always backed up by reliable evidence. An example would be the ‘when I achieve this, I will be happy’ story described above. Another popular story is that money buys happiness. I spent much of my research career examining this (and travelling humbly for 18 months).

What is clear is that having more money (beyond the point of meeting basic needs) is inconsequential when compared with having good quality relationships, looking after our mental and physical health, and living meaningfully in line with our beliefs and values. Yet, sadly, these things often get sacrificed in pursuit of more.

These stories persist because they support an economic system that is designed to increase GDP, rather than improve the wellbeing of people and the planet.

4. Allow others to give
Warm and loving relationships are essential for living a happy life. Yet that doesn’t mean these are easy to come by.

As an academic, I saw how important relationships were for happiness in the data. But like many, I had a difficult time realising them in my own life. We’re not taught that way and often think people will only love us when we meet certain criteria, rather than unconditionally for who we are.

What shocked me most on my cycle journey was people’s kindness and generosity. People would invite me into their lives, offering me food or a place to stay, even when they owned little. When I set off, I was either suspicious of this generosity or racing too quickly onwards to consider stopping. But with time, I learned to let people in, and this led to deeper connections and more happiness.

5. You can get through a crisis
I wouldn’t have been able to reach Bhutan on a bicycle without facing a crisis or two. We will all face a crisis at some point. We might lick our wounds and get back in the saddle, but to find our way through a crisis psychologically, we need support from others. We also need to give ourselves time to make sense of what has happened and to ensure we move forward purposefully. These are all essential for resilience, and what helped me on my journey.

6. You can’t beat the million-star hotel
Nothing beats lying under the stars after a full day’s cycle through the mountains. Humans are of nature, yet we spend so much of our time indoors in built-up, often contrived, social spaces that do not meet fundamental needs. Nature is essential for our wellbeing – not just to feel calm and peaceful in the moment, but to sustain human life for generations to come.
