After the completion of Elysian Sands in Chania, I am happy to share that this work will continue.
A second Elysian Sands immersion is already being envisioned, as well as a winter series of online seminars inspired by this first experience.
The winter 2026–2027 Mythology Series will continue exploring Greek myth through a Jungian and Sandplay lens, focusing on the symbolic movements of the psyche and the clinical meaning of mythic images.
More details will follow soon.
For now, I remain grateful for the depth, presence, and trust of the first Elysian Sands group.
Something has begun.

Why Elysian Sands?
The title was chosen carefully.
“Elysian” evokes the Elysian Fields — not simply as a mythological place, but as a symbolic state after ordeal, descent, and transformation.
“Sand” belongs to the language of Sandplay: ancient, tactile, unstable and stable at the same time, formless and form-giving.
In Elysian Sands, Greek mythology became a way of listening to the psyche.
The labyrinth, the descent, the hero’s encounter, the loss of wings, the image of return — all became symbolic structures through which we could reflect on the movement of the inner world.
In Jungian Sandplay, the image is not explained too quickly. It is held, witnessed, and allowed to reveal its own rhythm.
This was the spirit of the immersion in Chania: to meet myth not only through thought, but through image, place, body, and sand.

Elysian Sands has come to completion.
From 17–21 April 2026, in Chania, we gathered for an immersive journey into Jungian Sandplay and Greek mythology — through image, symbol, myth, place, silence, and shared reflection.
During these days, Greek myths were not approached as stories of the past, but as living psychological maps: descent, encounter, transformation, fragmentation, and return.
I feel deeply grateful to all participants who entered this symbolic field with openness, seriousness, sensitivity, and respect.
Elysian Sands was not only a seminar. It became a shared space of learning, witnessing, and inner movement.

It is profoundly moving to witness Sandplay bringing together people from different parts of the world into one shared symbolic space of image, psyche, and myth.

Jungian Symbolism & Sandplay: The African Women of Pelourinho (Salvador)

In Jungian and Sandplay perspectives, the African women of Pelourinho in Salvador embody archetypal images of the Great Mother, the ancestral feminine, and cultural memory. Their presence evokes resilience, continuity, and the living transmission of African-Brazilian identity shaped through history, ritual, and collective suffering.

In Sandplay, such figures may symbolize a reconnection with ancestral roots, embodied wisdom, and the strength of the collective feminine, offering containment and grounding during processes of healing and individuation.

Jungian & Sandplay Symbolism of the Charpai

In Jungian symbolism, the charpai—a traditional woven bed from Pakistan—can be seen as a holding vessel of the psyche. Its woven structure reflects the interconnectedness of relationships, ancestry, and the collective unconscious, offering support through tension and balance rather than rigidity.

In Sandplay Therapy, the charpai may symbolize a need for containment, grounding, and reconnection with cultural or ancestral roots, especially during times of psychic transition. It evokes a simple yet resilient image of rest within the fabric of the collective.
