Posted • .ie I'm doing this webinar on the WHO Code on 1st August (the first day of World Breastfeeding Week) and all proceeds will be donated to Gaza Infant Nutrition Alliance (GINA).

Suggested donation is €10 but you can pay more or less, whatever you can afford.

The presentation will look at the history of Infant Formula marketing, the decline of breastfeeding in the 20th Century, factors that led to the emergence of the WHO Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes, and the impact that the Code has had globally. WHO Code compliance for IBCLCs and health professionals will be discussed, and the session will finish with a Q&A.

A recording of the event will be emailed to everyone who books.

In addition, attendees will recieve a certificate of attendance (one hour of Ethics lactation education for anyone gathering education hours towards IBCLC certification).

Let’s make sure this weekend we all take action. I’m going to list a few things below you can do👇 (Please add more in the comments - list demonstrations for others to join)

1. Email your MP / Representative / Elected Official using the 3 recent templates in ’s bio. It only takes a few minutes.

2. Call them. Their contact details are public — and you can use the email template as a script. (Stay calm and clear — we must get the borders open.)

3. Support mutual aid. Visit and to donate to community kitchens and urgent grassroots fundraisers.

4. Boycott. Learn about the BDS movement and start boycotting with tools like .

5. Organise. No local solidarity group? Start one. There are plenty of guides online. Message your friends, your community, the people you’ve met at demos — and take action this weekend.

On 5 May, Israel’s security cabinet unanimously approved a new plan to escalate operations in Gaza, including the “conquest” of the territory and the promotion of the “voluntary migration” of its population into Egypt’s Sinai Desert.

Let’s call this what it is: the annexation of Gaza and the ethnic cleansing of its citizens—all while we approach ten weeks of Israel blocking food and water to the population.

The approved plan includes several core elements: the military occupation of the Gaza Strip, full territorial control, and the forced displacement of hundreds of thousands of civilians to southern Gaza, nearer to the Rafah border crossing into Sinai.

Ethnic cleansing has never been incidental to Israel’s project — it has been a core objective from the very start. The creation of the state itself was rooted in this goal, and decades later, its policies remain consistent in advancing it.

This is the collapse of international law. Palestine has laid bare a global system that not only permits genocide—but protects it, funds it, and cloaks it in the language of human rights.

We are so far beyond words. Beyond condemnation.
What we are witnessing is indefensible: the greatest crime against humanity in our time.

I've started a business course!!! 😜
I've never thought of myself as particularly good with business so who better to teach me, than the wonderful
The course is specifically designed for birth workers, so obviously right up my street.
To be honest it's been a challenge, working out and accepting the tensions between wanting to be seen and exposed and also knowing that I don't want to spend all my time tied to my phone, promoting, designing, marketing! I've also been sent a few curve balls with work and now my family have arrived for Easter 🐇..... Is this me getting in my own my? Or justified reasons for not being on top of the course content 🤷

I'm learning and I'm getting there and Anna is a graceful, insightful guide. Ever grateful 🙏

Mother's day reflections.

Mothering and parenting is Really hard in the best of circumstances, I do not want to imagine what it is like during genocide, occupation, domination and constant terror. But I do, because so many fellow mothers around the world do. We cannot bring birth and motherhood into its rightful central place in a western context without also fighting to bring it to such a place in all contexts. Sacred birth and parenthood is universal. Respect birth always and everywhere!

Today is Mother’s Day in the UK. It’s also Eid for our Muslim brothers and sisters around the world.

Before the sun even rose today, five Palestinian children were already murdered by the occupation. FIVE CHILDREN! On a day when the UK (a country deeply complicit in the genocide of the Palestinian people) celebrates motherhood. Can you see the irony?

While we’re buying flowers and booking Sunday lunches, mothers in Gaza are digging through rubble to find the body parts of their children. Holding the body-less heads of their babies. Children are searching through rubble for the body parts of their MOTHERS. Again, can you see the irony?

We refuse to look away.
We refuse to be silent.
This Mother’s Day, we honour mothers in Palestine.
We also honour mothers in Yemen, in Sudan, in the Congo, in Lebanon and across the world who are parenting through bombs, famine, occupation and grief.

We call upon our fellow Birthworkers to stand with us in solidarity with the Palestinian people and of all oppressed people.

I'd like to highlight .gr who create safe spaces & provide support for vulnerable refugee mothers & babies in Greece.

"As thousands of refugees reach Greece’s shores daily, Amurtel focuses on the crucial needs of pregnant women, birthing women and mothers with small infants. These women and babies are greatly affected by the lack of stable shelter and routine, nutritious and culturally familiar food and emotional support. They often look exhausted and desperate to stop and yet they go on. The AMURTEL team of midwives, doulas, lactation consultants, concerned mothers and women with skills in the area of childbirth and infancy go regularly to the refugee camps in Athens and the island of Lesvos to offer support for breastfeeding, infant care, postpartum care of new mothers and assistance during birth if necessary".

The ongoing conflicts and multiple genocides of the Global South have displaced millions of people who require support, care & resources whilst they find themselves in unimaginable circumstances.
