A study on the effects of a natural telomerase activator, 'Reverse™', on the brains of 18-month-old rats found that the supplement restored telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) expression in the brains of rats after three months of administration.

The supplement also enhanced telomerase activity in the cerebellum and cortex cells. Histopathological findings confirmed a structural reversibility effect similar to the differentiation observed in the young control group.

The study suggests that increased telomerase activity and TERT expression can be achieved in the brains of middle-aged rats through nutraceutical supplementation, potentially alleviating various central nervous system diseases.

The current article is a literature review aiming to provide an overview of the existing knowledge on the association between telomere length and telomerase activity and in vitro fertilization. Recently, telomeres have been used as an effective biomarker to determine biological age, which may differ from chronological age due to genetic, lifestyle, and environmental factors. Cellular senescence, along with other exogenous and mainly environmental factors, can enhance telomere wear, further shortening their ends and may also affect reproductive aging. IVF is a common fertility treatment caused by female reasons (age, ovulation disorders, damaged or blocked fallopian tubes, endometriosis), male reasons (low s***m quantity or quality), or unexplained infertility. A growing number of studies have proposed a relationship between telomere length and telomerase activity and IVF success and have suggested their use as candidate biomarkers for IVF outcome.

Glyphosate (GLY), an organophosphate derivative of glycine (N-phosphonomethyl-glycine), is the active ingredient in several commercial herbicide formulations sold worldwide, the most commonly used being Roundup.
We conducted a rat-model experiment to assess the effects of glyphosate exposure, finally demonstrating that:

• Prenatal exposure to regulatory-relevant dosages of glyphosate and its combination with dicamba and 2,4-D induced anti-androgenic effects in male rat offspring

• Glyphosate exposure causes glomerular and tubular dysfunction in dams, as well as a rise in thyroid hormone levels in a dose-dependent manner.

• Treatment with the glyphosate, dicamba, and 2,4-D mixture exhibited an additive effect on dams' kidney and thyroid functions.

The present review summarizes the potential of telomere shortening as a biomarker for detecting the onset of osteoporosis.The present review includes randomized and non-randomized controlled studies and case series involving humans, irrespective of the time of their publication. In six out of the 11 included studies providing data on humans, there was at least a weak association between telomere length and osteoporosis, with the remaining studies exhibiting no such association. As a result, telomere shortening may be used as a biomarker or as part of a panel of biomarkers for tracking the onset and progression of osteoporosis.
