Dance movement therapy is not performance.

It’s about how you feel — and what you’ve never had the chance to express.

In the therapy space, movement becomes permission.
To shift. To tremble. To stretch. To breathe.
To move the sadness, the tension, the memory, the shame.

The body doesn’t ask you to perform.
It asks you to show up — just as you are.

The body doesn’t break overnight.
It gives signs. Small ones. Quiet ones.

A tension in your jaw.
The breath you didn’t even know you were holding.
The weight on your chest that only shows up in stillness.

These are not random.
They are whispers — early messages from your body, trying to tell you something.

But when we ignore them, we force the body to speak louder.
It tightens, stiffens, withdraws, hurts.
Until finally, it screams — in anxiety, fatigue, burnout, or illness.

Somatic therapy is not about “fixing.”
It’s about listening — early.
Listening with kindness, curiosity, and presence.

The body remembers before we do.
Before we find the words.
Before we understand.
Before we make sense of things — the body already knows.

A smell that makes our stomach tighten.
A shoulder that folds in without noticing.
A breath that silently holds when we say “I’m fine.”

The body doesn’t forget.
It holds memories, pauses, stories, silences.
And it brings them back — through tension, movement, stillness, or pain.

In dance movement therapy, we’re not trying to dance.
We’re listening.
We follow the body’s way of speaking, sensing, remembering.

And sometimes…
when there are no words left —
healing begins.

Men, too, struggle with anxiety, depression, burnout, grief, identity, and emotional pain. Yet so many carry the weight in silence, believing they must always be strong, always in control, always “okay.”

This month is a reminder:
✨ It’s okay to not be okay.
✨ It’s okay to ask for help.
✨ It’s okay to feel deeply, cry, and speak your truth.

As a therapist, I often witness how healing begins when space is made for honesty, emotion, and connection—without judgment.
