🌊 What an inspiring week in Larnaca! 🌊

From 3–7 September, our educators and teachers from our Dracon Rules Design Studio team joined fellow educators from Greece, Portugal, Poland, and Cyprus for the TeachBlue training workshop on Professional Development in Ocean Literacy for Early Childhood Educators.

Together we explored and tested the innovative TeachBlue Toolkit—a future-oriented set of resources including a Teacher’s Handbook, Educational Activities Guide, the Blue Mission board game, and immersive 360° underwater videos.

🐚 Designed for children aged 4–8, this toolkit transforms ocean literacy into playful, inspiring learning experiences, fully aligned with UNESCO’s Ocean Literacy Framework and SDG 14: Life Below Water.

👩‍🏫 Throughout the workshop we engaged in interactive modules, creative sessions, and hands-on activities, and experienced unforgettable field trips to the Thalassa Museum, Cape Greko Environmental & Educational Centre, and Ammos Kambouri Beach—bringing ocean learning to life.

🌱 Last week, our Dracon Rules Design Studio playtesting team gathered for an internal session to test the Green Chef culinary education game. The aim? To ensure a smooth, educational, and engaging experience for both VET students and trainers. 🧑‍🍳🎓

🃏 From card interactions to rule clarity, our testers dove into the game’s mechanics, exploring how it supports culinary learners in understanding plant-based ingredients, sustainability, and green cooking creativity.

💬 Valuable feedback was collected and sent to the development team — because at Dracon, every game we support is a living tool for education, meant to be tested, improved, and enjoyed in real classrooms.

This activity is part of our work in the Erasmus+ Green Chef project, a collaboration between 🇭🇺 Climate Smart Elephant (Hungary), 🇧🇬 HRC Culinary Academy (Bulgaria), and 🇬🇷 Dracon RDS (Greece).

🌍🎲 EcoTrade is in the Testing Phase!

The EcoTrade Board Game is now being tested by students and educators in our partner countries! 🚀

We are gathering feedback from players, refining the rules and mechanics, and making improvements so that the final version will be even more engaging, inclusive, and educational.

💡 The EcoTrade board game is designed to:
✅ Simulate international trade in a fun and interactive way
✅ Promote sustainability and green skills
✅ Support teachers with innovative classroom tools
✅ Encourage teamwork and critical thinking

This is an exciting step toward bringing an innovative learning tool to VET classrooms across Europe. 🌱✨

🌊💙 Join the Mission to Save Our Oceans! 💙🌊

🚨 Exciting News from the TeachBlue Project! 🚨

We’ve entered the testing phase of our educational board game Blue Mission 🎲🌊

In this adventure, players team up with Luna & Kiko (curious explorers), Splash (a friendly dolphin 🐬), and Caretta (a wise turtle 🐢) to outsmart the wacky pirate swordfish, Captain Pimpas 🏴‍☠️🐟, and protect the ocean’s treasures.

The game combines fun and storytelling with real ocean literacy facts, helping children (and teachers!) learn about rivers, seas, and the importance of protecting marine life. 🌍💙

This board game is part of the Erasmus+ project TeachBlue, where Dracon Rules Design Studio contributes to building an innovative Toolkit for early childhood teachers:

📣 Great news! Our Erasmus+ KA210 Youth project PLAYCRACY – Game-based approaches for strengthening youth participation in democracy has been officially approved under the Erasmus+ Programme 🇪🇺.

Over the next 12 months, together with the coordinator Asociatia Share Education (RO), we - Dracon Rules Design Studio (GR), and DYPALL Network (PT) will work together to explore how board games and gamification can empower young people to engage in democracy. 🎲🗳️

Through training youth workers, local workshops, and a practical toolkit, the project will turn games into tools for critical thinking, civic participation, and meaningful dialogue among young people aged 18–29.

🎉 Project approved!
We are happy to share that our project Game Design for Education has been officially approved by the Erasmus+ National Agency in Greece –: Ίδρυμα Κρατικών Υποτροφιών/ State Scholarships Foundation 🇬🇷🇪🇺

As coordinators, we will lead this exciting journey to create a practical handbook with experiential methodologies, strategies, and real examples to help educators and designers adapt and design games for education. 🎲📚

The project will also highlight inclusion and diversity, giving visibility to underrepresented voices in game design – including women, LGBTQ+ creators, educators in rural areas, and trainers working with people with intellectual disabilities. 🌍✨

Green Chef culinary education game was presented to gamers in Romania in order to test its workings, and they share our activity!

The game is part of the "GreenChef: Gamifying sustainable cooking and environmental education" project of the Erasmus+ Programme with code 2023-2-HU01-KA210-VET-000181362 with HRC Culinary Academy and coordination of Climate Smart Elephant.

🎲🌍 From Ideas to Playtesting – Our Board Game Journey Begins! 🌱📦

At Dracon Rules Design Studio, we believe in the power of games to transform learning - and we’re thrilled to share the progress of our latest Erasmus+ adventure: Co-Create EcoTrade!

We’re co-developing an innovative educational board game that introduces students and young people to the world of sustainable international trade - all through collaborative play and hands-on learning.

Over the past few months, our dedicated international team has been:
🧠 Co-designing core mechanics that make learning fun
📄 Crafting rules and scenarios rooted in real-world trade challenges
🎨 Illustrating cards, tokens & maps to bring global trade to life
🌍 Working across borders to create an impactful and inclusive learning tool

🚨 And now… it’s Alpha testing time!
Each partner, including us here in Greece 🇬🇷, will organize local testing sessions with trainers and students to gather feedback and fine-tune the next version of the game — set to launch this autumn 🍂.
