🎲✨ When education meets play, learning becomes an experience.

On 24 February, Dracon Rules Design Studio had the pleasure to participate in the EcoTrade Multiplier Event hosted at the Σχολή Επαγγελματικής Κατάρτισης (SAEK), where we presented the results of the Erasmus+ project:

🌍 Co-Create EcoTrade: Collaborative Learning for Sustainable VET Education
(Project code: 2024-2-ES01-KA210-VET-000283809)

During the event, participants had the opportunity to discover the EcoTrade educational board game 🎮📦 — an innovative learning tool designed to help learners understand sustainable transport, logistics, decision-making, and environmental impact ♻️🚛 through interactive gameplay.

What made this session especially inspiring was the connection with real vocational contexts 🧑‍🏫🔧. Together with participants from different departments, we explored how the game mechanics can be adapted across sectors — from healthcare transport scenarios 🏥🚑 requiring prioritisation and time-sensitive deliveries, to production and distribution environments 🪑📦 such as furniture logistics.

This is exactly the vision behind EcoTrade:

👉 sustainability awareness through play 🌱

🇪🇺✨ The journey of GDE – Game Design for Education has officially begun! 🎲📚

We are happy to share that the first transnational project meeting (TPM) of the Erasmus+ project GDE – Game Design for Education took place successfully in Patras, Greece 🇬🇷, hosted by Dracon Rules Design Studio.

During two intensive and productive days, partners from Greece 🇬🇷, Portugal 🇵🇹, Poland 🇵🇱, and Cyprus 🇨🇾 worked together to:
✅ 📊 Present research findings and initial insights
✅ 🧩 Co-create the structure of the upcoming handbook
✅ 🛠️ Define methodologies and case study approaches
✅ 🗓️ Plan the next activities and international mobility
✅ 🤝 Strengthen collaboration between industry, academia, and education

🎯 This project aims to develop a practical handbook for game designers and educators, supporting the transition of game design into the educational field while promoting inclusion, diversity, and innovation across Europe.

✨ What is the best way to finish an amazing project?
By organising a conference where you proudly present the results of a dedicated international team and celebrate the journey together. 🌍💙

Dracon Rules Design Studio was happy to participate in the TeachBlue Final Conference in Wrocław, Poland, where the outcomes of the Erasmus+ project “TeachBlue: An innovative Marine and Ocean Literacy Toolkit for Early Childhood Teachers” were officially presented. 🇵🇱🤝

During the event, educators, researchers, and stakeholders had the opportunity to explore the project results, including:
🎲 The Blue Mission educational board game, designed by the Dracon team
📘 The teachers’ curriculum and educational activities
🌊 The immersive 360° underwater videos
💻 The online learning platform and digital resources

For us, this conference was not only about sharing results — it was about celebrating collaboration, creativity, and impact. Seeing teachers discover and engage with the tools we developed is the greatest reward for our work.

We are proud to have contributed to a project that helps children understand from an early age that the ocean is the heartbeat of our planet. 🌍💙

🎉 It’s ready! Green Chef culinary education game is officially complete. 🎉

After months of design, testing, playtesting, and refinement, the GreenChef board game is ready to be used as an educational tool in classrooms, workshops, and VET settings.

🧑‍🍳🎲 GreenChef combines board-game mechanics with learning about:
🌱 sustainable cooking
🥕 plant-based ingredients
🌍 the environmental impact of food choices

At Dracon Rules Design Studio, we focused on making learning hands-on, engaging, and discussion-driven — turning sustainability into something you can play, explore, and talk about.

The game was developed within the Erasmus+ GreenChef project, in collaboration with partners from 🇭🇺 Hungary, 🇧🇬 Bulgaria, and 🇬🇷 Greece, and is designed to support educators, trainers, and learners alike.

🎲 Game Design for Education | Online Kick-off Meeting

We officially kicked off our Erasmus+ project Game Design for Education (GDE) with our partners during our first online meeting.

The session was dedicated to aligning expectations, clarifying roles, and setting the foundations for the work ahead — from the development of the handbook to upcoming research, workshops, and dissemination activities.

As project coordinator, Dracon Rules Design Studio is excited to lead this collaboration and start shaping a shared vision on how game design can support meaningful and inclusive learning experiences.

Last week, we met in Portimão for the International Brainstorming Activity of our Erasmus+ project PLAYCRACY – Game-based approaches for strengthening youth participation in democracy 🎲🗳️

Together with our amazing partners Share Education (🇷🇴) and DYPALL Network (🇵🇹), we exchanged ideas, explored how board games can be adapted for civic education, and co-created the foundations of a practical toolkit for youth workers. The energy, collaboration, and discussions around democracy, participation, and game-based learning truly set the tone for the project!

This meeting marked an important step toward empowering youth workers and engaging young people in democratic life through play. More activities and opportunities coming soon - stay tuned! 👀

In November, the Dracon Rules Design Studio team joined our partners in Miranda de Ebro for the second Learning, Teaching and Training Activity (LTTA 2) of the "Co-Create EcoTrade:
collaborative learning for sustainable VET education" Erasmus+ project - and it was all about playing, testing, and improving. 🎲🌱

Together with trainers and students, we carried out hands-on pilot testing of the EcoTrade board game, exploring how game mechanics can help learners better understand sustainable logistics, international trade, and eco-conscious decision-making.
Every session brought valuable insights: what works well, what needs adjusting, and how learning truly happens when players are actively involved.

At Dracon, we believe that testing is key to building meaningful educational games. That’s why feedback from real users plays a central role in shaping EcoTrade into a practical, engaging tool for VET education across Europe.

Last week, we had an amazing time presenting the GreenChef project at AthensCon 2025, one of Greece’s biggest pop culture conventions! 🎲👨‍🍳

As part of the Erasmus+ project GreenChef, we hosted a dedicated workshop where visitors and participants could:
✨ explore the educational board game up close
✨ learn about the connection between green practices, sustainability, and food
✨ discover how the game was created and how it can be used as a teaching tool in schools and vocational training
✨ engage in lively discussions about recipes, ingredients, and the environment 🌍

The event brought together people who love cooking, care about the environment, and enjoy game design — and we were thrilled to share the Green Chef culinary education game with such an enthusiastic audience! 🙌

Θα γίνει ένα focus group με τους σχεδιαστές που θα παραβρεθούν και θα ανακοινωθεί το νέο έργο "Game Design for Education - A handbook to detail experiential methodologies and strategies to adapt and design games for Education", 2025-1-EL01-KA210-VET-000357836.

Οι παρόντες θα έχουν την ευκαιρία να βοηθήσουν στην σχεδίαση του αρχικού πλάνου, καθώς και να εκδηλώσουν ενδιαφέρον για συμμετοχή τις επόμενες φάσεις του έργου.

Η εκδήλωση είναι δωρεάν, παρ' αυτά απαιτείται εισιτήριο για την είσοδο στην έκθεση. Ως συνήθως, η Dracon προτίθεται να προσφέρει δωρεάν εισιτήρια εισόδου για ενδιαφερόμενους που δεν έχουν την οικονομική δυνατότητα να προμηθευτούν αλλά θα ήθελαν να παρακολουθήσουν. Green Chef culinary education game

Last week we had the pleasure of testing the GreenChef educational board game with students from the University of Thessaly – School of Agricultural Sciences, Department of Food Science and Nutrition!

🌱 GreenChef blends fun gameplay with sustainability education, encouraging players to explore plant-based ingredients, eco-friendly recipes, and the environmental impact of their food choices.

👩‍🍳 Together with future food professionals, we gathered valuable feedback that will help us refine the game and strengthen its role as an educational tool for promoting green and sustainable cooking.
